Someone told me this of the restaurant business and I have to agree. If they specialize in one kind of food (as most fast food places) and if that food isn't very good, it tells you something about the establishment in general, and not to eat there.

I have been watching Kitchen Nightmares with Gorden Ramsey, and this one place had a lot of flies in the dining area for some reason. It looked clean enough. The kitchen and food storage was a NIGHTMARE of cockroaches and rat droppings. I then surmised, any place could have a couple of flies that come in the door, but if the place is swarming then get out!

Now apply these principles to how businesses are run and it could open your eyes.
don't dog toshiba entirely. they have a very strong semiconductor unit which is very profitable to them. dont' forget they did co-develop the brains of the PS3 with sony and IBM. their CE equipment leaves some to be desired, but that's a different unit. i, for one, will never buy a toshiba product. when (yes, when... just like sony folded and released VHS, so will they) toshiba rolls out BD players, they will sit dusty like their HDDUD predecessors
