Thumbs up 2010 Winter Olympics (Official Thread?)

I can't wait! 78 Days and counting!

Every 2 yrs I get amped up in anticipation over the Summer/Winter Olympics and I'm not going to lie...with these ones being in Canada, I'm a bit more interested.

The Hockey is going to be fantastic!

Word competition at it's finest. Let's hope there aren't too many doping scandals.

Hey now...I'm assuming most blu-ray junkies also subscribe to HD. I know I'm going to get plenty of HD olympic action!

I don't even think I was subbing to HD for the last Summer Olympics.

GF is excited. She loves the olympics.

I'm looking forward to Hockey of course.

Probably the only time I'll cheer for Crosby and even then, I might not

I love the Olympics, whether it be winter or summer, but I must say that the winter Olympics are my favorite. I really think Vancouver is going be an excellent host city. It's one of those times where it is ok to go overboard in ones showing of patriotism and pride in their country. I know myself and my family and friends really get into the games, my wife and I can really get the house rocking cheering for the US. I'm going to echo Grumpz' comment and really hope for no scandals involving performance enhancing drugs. And should an athlete make the boneheaded decision to use them, let's hope they get rooted out and humiliated in the process.

LET'S GO USA!!!

I'm a huge Olympics fan as well, both Summer and Winter, so I'm looking forward to the Vancouver Games with much anticipation!

Hockey is obviously the #1 attraction, but I love watching all of the others as well! I even, dare I say, watch the figure skating, which I never ever do. But hell, it's the Olympics!

Good luck to all the countries, but especially CANADA!

John

I, for one, can't wait. I'll watch every event except Nordic Combined (also, it's the only time I'll watch curling ). Naturally, I'll be watching ice hockey, but I'm much more amped for short track and speed skating (only because ESPN doesn't televise this, opting for some poker tournament or college basketball game instead )

Go CANADA!

All I care about is the US winning the medal count. Whether they are gold, silver, or bronze I'll take them all. I really don't expect us to win the medal count here in Vancouver, but I'd be happy with top three. We've finished second to Germany twice in a row. I'd love to see a good effort from our men's hockey team as well. The summer games is where we usually win the medal count, but one of these years we'll take our domination over to the winter games as well. Winning is the American way.

I'm actually very interested in the Canadian Own the Podium efforts by our gov't. They've actually spent "real" money funding our athletes and are rewarding medals. A first for Canadian Olympians.

Traditionally Canada does better in the Winter games, so maybe we'll actually be close to the top as a result of these new efforts.

Bottom line though...if we don't win Gold in Hockey, it'll be a disaster!

I think that was a very good decision to make. You have to spend money to do well. It's the way the way the world works, money equals success. China has started doing it, and look how much they have improved.

I know competing for your country would feel fantastic, but it's clear there's an edge to athletes who get more than a pat on the back for there efforts.

I think the thread was created too early (seeing as it won't commence until February). I think things will pick up once the new year rolls around.

53 days!

Thank god for the olypmics, cuz the NFL is winding down and the NHL just isn't the same when you grow up watching a team and it gets ripped out of your city, dropped in the desert and still gets bought for $150 million even though no one gives a crap about the game!
