Well, not really... but Im a blu-ray guy too so I understand how you guys feel. DVD still outsells blu-ray buy quite a bit. In due time my friends....in due time!

As for Trek stuff or any other films: I wont buy anything on DVD anymore. Not gonna do it. Netflix is your friend and you can rent all that stuff, watch it, enjoy it and wait for the blu-rays to eventually to come out. I know how it is...you want it NOW and the DVDs are tempting. Dont do it though. Patience, young padawan.

I would wait for it to come out on blu THEN buy it on DVD

we all know paramount is gonna try and charge $200 per season to drain those trekkie wallets.

really though i think you will have a long wait, and even then it is unknown at all imo... if you can get the DVDs at a fair price i say go for it. Also Enterprise if i remember correctly is available for download on XBOX live and probably else where in 720p.

Hold out for Blu and the quality it brings - hopefully it will also include lossless audio!

I wouldn’t go as far as saying dead that is the wrong attitude!

What if, Bluray backfired on us, what then?

So far since I brought Bluray Philips BDP3000 about 3 weeks ago I’ve not purchased one single cheap priced region 2 DVD.

I have enough of 1K DVD titles and yes, it’s the same ole thing all over again! It happened with laserdisc over VHS thou only few brought laserdisc a select group. Then it phased into DVD where laserdisc retired and I still own to Pioneer decks.

There DVD players

Hmm, I wonder if I’ll end up buying second Bluray player that biasscaly does the same thing as the first Bluray player. It plays Bluray lol!

I might buy some tiles but not sure about all the STAR TREK TV shows as I have them on region 2 DVD part of fortnightly magazine that was produced a few years ago in the UK at only £7.00 so why should I buy STAR TREK TV show all over again.

The films is different issue I can’t really bare to stand listening to 25fps speed-up!

The frequency goes up a few Hz due to the speed-up!

24fps is how I heard it in the cinema.

Furthermore I don’t know if the new Bluray STAR TREK TV show is that god awful version with the new GCI! No thanks that is hardly original, but the same can be said about the Dolby 5.1 mix with split-surrounds on the DVD as STAR TREK was never aired in six-track only monaural plus some of the sound effects some, sound different to the original show, unless you happen to have VHS tapes from the late 1970’s to early 80’s and 90’s when it was re-ran on the BBC.

Also I would consider the STAR TREK DVD uncut over the BBC versions as they where trimmed down!

The effects shots on the original series were done on film, so upgrading them to HD was fairly easy. The decision to also present new effects alongside them was merely an option.

With TNG/DS9/VOY the original effects will look fairly poo upgraded to HD, because of their video resolution origins. Replacing them will be a requirement, not an option.

My recommendation, seriously, is to buy the DVDs.
I agree! And it will save you money in the long run.

I should add that I would recommend waiting for Enterprise and, maybe, the animated series on BD. Those will be fairly easy to present in HD.

DVD is the way to go for TNG/DS9/VOY.

If you really want to see the movie rent it and rip it until the blu-rays come out, don't buy DVD it's a waste of money.
