I liked Star Trek but I agree, this film is better. The second half is just ridiculous. Highly recommended.

Many of the films I rented from Nutflix with high expectations ended up being underwhelming or decent but only worth a single viewing.

Just saying.... I wouldnt buy it blindly.
You are exactly right about blind buys. Our family has been burned on a number of DVDs that were disappointing- some of which we couldn't even finish watching. Our new rule for BDs: unless it's a concert, at least one person in the family must have seen the movie before it's even considered.

Sorry to get too far off topic, but I was at Borders deciding between John Mayer: Where the Light Is and Sunrise. I have a copy of John Mayer on DVD, and had never seen Sunrise. I went with John Mayer because I knew it was good. I then checked Sunrise out from the library, and no offense to you, s2mikey, and other sci-fi fans, but Sunrise was really bad at the end. First half great, second half not so much.

As much as District 9 rocked IMO, please do yourself a favor and rent it first.

Default District 9 exclusives...

Was going to try and get the BB exclusives that come with the pre-order AND the steelbook from Futureshop...but,

Just got off the phone with the "inventory manager" at my local BB...

And he says the District 9 pre-sale exclusives are NOT working the same as the past 2 exclusive steelbook advances (Snow White & Up), but rather- you go in and put $5 down and when the movie comes in, pre-sales will include the litho and dogtag on the day of release!

Anyone else that can confirm these exclusives are NOT available today? Link to what I'm talking about here:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...33&postcount=1

There goes my plan to just buy the exclusives for $5 and not pick up the actual movie through them...but I'm still getting me a FS steelbook (hopefully)!!!

Ever go see movies in the theater? If so, you blind buy. The only difference is if you don't like it, you can't sell your ticket stub to get some of your money back.

My mistake. I know Sunrise is a classic film, and I had watched it my cinema class a few years ago. I meant Sunshine, of course.

Just got my copy of this one. The AVC transfer looks great in my opinion. The BD gives you two menu options, Human or Alien. Alien is blue and human is the gray one with the MNU logo. Personally for me the alien menu is better. Pics below:

Pretty good. I haven't watched it all. I just skip along the BD to try it out. I have others i have to get to before watching this one. But at first glance it's not bad at all IMO.

Excited to hear it's a great transfer. I'm looking forward to the 22nd to add this to my collection, one of my fav sci-fi movies of the past few years. But the experience at home, to me, is better than the theater, so I might enjoy it even more. Thanks for the screencaps!

Thing is, most times when people go to a movie in a theater, they have seen a trailer, so its not really 'blind buy'.
