It seems most examples of the "look how people overreact" articles I have seen are situations that require stupidity or law breaking from two different parties. The guy parked illegally in a sensitive part of town on the wrong day in a city that has a fairly long and storied history with car bombs. It's clear that in such situations the London police would rather be safe than sorry.

Oh yes. Didn't mean to come across as stuffy. It is amusing this guy paid a pretty heavy penalty for what, out of context, seems to be a minor indiscretion. Better him than me.

It should be interesting working this all out in the courts, establishing fault, fair compensation, etc. I suspect this guy will come out smelling like a rose.

I hope he has insurance lol. NYC tickets are around $115. That's nothing considering having the option to blow your car up lol.

I disagree.

I think the cops will come out on top in this case, as it wouldn't matter who the car was registered to, if they were running away from it double parked {especially since they were away long enough for the cops to a} show up and b} set the explosives} then they might tell him 'too bad'

I think the cops went to the extreme. Couldn't they have checked the car's tags to know about the owner and gather some intelligence before blowing up the car.

Was it double parked? I don't know what double lines are in the UK.

I would agree with you were the car blown up by a private company, but rulings tend to be more lenient when tax payers are footing the bill.
