I actually have respect for dafoe for that, it just shows that he had complete dedication to the role, though totally over the top and not realistic...

Either you like it, or you hate it ... there is no middle way in BDS.

Why not? I think there's plenty of room in the middle for people on this one.

Yea, that was a bit of a surprise seeing him in that (Very Small, thankfully) little role. Then another of his former "co-stars" as the Dancer in the adult viewing booth establishment (tho' she actually had a couple of Lines in the Deleted scenes of that scene in particular---Jeanna Fine/stage name). How do I know these things. Lol.

Totally agree, although it is too far fetched to be considered a crime drama, crime drama has to have some realism imo, but I get what you mean.
Exactly, yea -- they obviously had a Low budget & aside from Dafoe, not many name actors (even Billy Connelly's role was a Small one for the most part).

Uh oh. Especially since Willem Dafoe isn't it, I'm kind of wondering how it is, or how they did it without him. He WAS the Best part of the 1st one IMO.

I love the movie. I found the story interesting in its own right; I love the photography; action scenes are plentiful and really well-made; lots of gnarly and crazy blood and guts; characters are alright (including that crazy William DaFoe); music rocks.

I gave it a 5/5, and I'd still stick with that rating. On a top 100 list for myself, "Boondock Saints" would rank somewhere in the middle.

Usually when someone loans you something that means you should watch it. They would not have loaned it to you, if they knew you were not going to watch it.

I bet any money if they loaned you "Star Trek" you would watch that.

Watch the movie and enjoy the movie! I have seen your post before and I don't believe you are really into movies like you say you are!!

It's not one of my favourite but I can see why some could think that this is one of their all time favourites, there's a lot of injustice in this world, big and small.
Vigilantism speaks strongly for many people and this is the perfect fantasy film about that.
I'm all for civilized justice that are handled in court and so forth, but some people seriously needs harsh justice, the good and the bad thing about Law and Order in the western societies is that sometimes true monsters are treated "humanely" or they get minuscule punishments.
I'm sorry, not trying to get political, just to prove my point.
If my post has violated the rules here I apologize, I'll delete my message if people are offended or you will of course.

Taken as a whole I think this movie is a bit of a stinker, mainly due to the 8th grade philosophizing. Defoe is usually pretty good, but he's a little over the top in this one. "THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!!!" is right up there with Al Pacino's yelling in Heat and anything uttered by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill on the cringe-meter.

That said, it's an entertaining (if shallow) movie if all you want to see is people getting killed. It seems to be very popular with the kind of people who like UFC, Camaros and barbwire tattoos.

3 years of never-ending hype killed this one for me. By the time I finally got around to watching it, I was let down. The BD transfer is also pretty lackluster as I recall.

Maybe its just my experience, i do not know anyone who said ... "was ok" or "nothing special" or "meh" or "scene worse".

Its either... "Great scott what a freakin awsome movie was that, i pay any price for this" or "What a stupid pile of horseshit, i want my effing time back you moron".

What a strange comment . . . the poster didn't really say anything about Star Trek. Just trying to start an argument?

Anyway . . . I just finished watching BDS for the first time. I liked it. Not one of my favorite movies, but for what it's selling for these days I'll definitely purchase it at some point.

I know this is an old post, but I just feel like pointing out the difference.

Richard Kelly, the guy who wrote/directed Donnie Darko, had nothing to do with S. Darko (other than it used the characters he created).

Troy Duffy, the pompous a**hat that made Boondock Saints, had everything to do with the sequel (including why it took 10 years to make, because studios didn't want to deal with him).
