Thanks for repling. I work at Best Buy and just checked our inventory system and we have 15 60gb ps3 in stock and Best Buy offers a 30 day price grantee. Is the reason you suggested the 60gb ps3 because is suppose to drop to 350? I’ve come to grips with having to buy a ps2 and price is not an issue, I just want to make sure I get the most current hardware in the system and if it means the 80gb system I can go that route or I can wait till the 28th for the 40gb.

40GB is even worse. They don't have any backward compatibility AT ALL. So, 60GB is better. 80GB, no. It's just bigger harddisk, but what you don't realise is that there is an important hardware that is removed. |

Get the 60 - then you don't need to purchase the PS2. (And you can always upgrade the hard-drive yourself if you feel 60 gigs won't be enough.)
I got a 60 gig - and if I had to purchase one today - I'd still purchase a 60 gig. Better backwards compatibility with PS2 games. I already had a PS2 - I wanted to get it out of my AV unit and just have one unit. With the PS3 - I have a PS3/PS2 console, Blu-ray player, DVD player and CD player. At first, I started downloaded my CD onto the hard-drive and it started taking up lots of room. I've deleted most of them now though, since I simply stream my music from my computer. Now I have plenty of room on my hard-drive. That's my 2 cents. |

does sony relese updates for old games so more will work? Actually the one game that concerns me is finaly fantasy 7 and on the search part of the ps3 site for backwards compatability that is the one game I own that wont work on both the 60 and the 80.
Another question I have is with the exception of b/c will the 80 or 40 have a better blu-ray player in it? Thanks so much for the help so far. I really dont care about price I just want the best system for blu-ray movies. I had the 60 and it broke so I got the s300. its fine but slow and the 2.60 update is kind of screwey on mine. |

That list of backward compatibility AFAIK does not apply to 60GB. Kingdom Hearts is listed not working in EU backward c, but works perfectly in 60GB (though it's japanese version). I have FFVII International and it works perfectly. |

I bought the 60g model. Even though I don't play PS2 stuff, I wanted to make sure I had the best model for it if I did.
The HD size isn't an issue at all. I'm not putting movies on it and if I needed space, upgrading to a larger HD is a snap. Oh, and I bought MotorStorm for $30 new off Ebay. ![]() |

IMO the 40Gb PS3 is the best choice if you only want to watch Blu-ray´s (and play PS3 games)

Kind of what Im looking for. I only care about blu-ray quality and I will play some ps3 games and upconvert my DVDs. I think and its just me guessing, not actual proof, that the latest one would have the better blu-ray player in them. Again, dont care about b/c. Thanks much.
