Wow and u are a sci-fi guy. Maybe I made the right decision in not buying this. So u say that 2001 is much better than Dark City? Got Em!!

SEE DARK CITY ASAP. Killer sci-fi/horror/detective/thriller/fantasy.

Watch the version with NO voice over. VERY important. I left the theater going WTF??? In a good way.

I'd recommend it as a rental, not a blind buy. But then I wouldn't recommend anything as a blind buy.

Dark City is a very good movie, it just hasn't aged very well in my opinion.
You'll actually notice how much The Wach brothers stole from this movie to the Matrix, some of the sets used from DC for this were actually used for The Matrix. But very two different movies though.

There's a theatrical version with VO and a Directors cut with no VO.

It IS in English...no subs required. The disc has 2 versions. One with a "narration" and one without. Watch it WITHOUT the narration because it has a huge spoiler right at the beginning of the movie.

EDIT: The narration is not the commentary track.

Not commentary, just narration that "makes it easier" to understand, I generally don't like voice overs... I haven't seen the VO version in ages, so I can't remember exactly though...

I am particularly fond of Rope because of the unique camera work and the fact that the entire movie is shot in ONE take. Actually it is simulated to appear that way and it works. It apperas like ZERO editing...the camera never leaves the characters. Awesome.

Ok thanks for the info. So just to be sure and this may be a dumb question, but for example....in Shawshank Freeman narrates the movie. is the voice over like that? If so wouldnt it belong in the movie like Freeman does in Shawshank? U dont have an option to turn off Freeman in Shawshank so I was just curious? Got Em!!
