Kathryn Bigelow is a very underrated director IMO. Point Break & The Hurt Locker are easily two of my favorite action adventure films.

Totally agree with this. Most of her films I have seen and loved, but I still did not know who she was and what films she had made before this thread.

agree with both of you. I think it's sad that she's not more well known. I wonder if the fact that she's done less than a movie a year is why her films seem to be better. Since 2000 she's done about five or six films, and everyone of them that I've seen I've really liked.

Weight of Water was a bit more of a drama piece than action, but I mean any director that has movies like Blue Steel, Point Break, Strange Days and Hurt Locker (from everything I've heard) has to be doing something right.

Strange Days is one of my fav sci fi movies of all time. Other than two strong lead performances, what it really does well is sell the tech. The SQuID device is a total piece of futuristic fiction yet within first 30 minutes of the film u completely buy into its reality. It also has an fine supporting cast.
