1) They shorten the documentary here for commercials. A new naration is needed to make things flow properly with the shorter running time.

2) US does not know the metric system. So things like this creature can grow to 3 meters and 75 kilograms. It can run up to 50km/h makes no sense to American audiences.

3) I suppose they could get Sir DA to redo the naration, but networks here likely (accurately) feel that American audiences will respond more favorably to a more familiar voice and dialect.

That said, I will always prefer the Sir David version...
