For now I just can't wait to see what they are going to come up with for the RC line and the new subs. The Conoisseur subs are just not worth talking about and very few people heard the new conoisseur line of speakers. Steve do you have an Energy Dealer in your area where you can listen to them and give your personal appreciation.
I'm sure you'll probably agree with Cpt and myself after we both heard it and the cf-70 review that we read on the brighter side of it but hey I think it's worth the try anyway. Have you tried T2 Steve? Amazing in 6.1 BTW I did a few updates on my HT page. Last edited by BigAl87; 12-02-2009 at 12:39 AM. |

i've recently added an acoustic audio hd sub 10 to my set-up as well as a panasonic dmp-bd60. have moved the old standy ps3 to the bedroom after finally getting a newer bedroom tv. i had considered a bookshelf set up in the bedroom but came to the conclusion that it would be too expensive for what i really would have wanted to do after buying bookshelves, receiver and sub, so i'm going to go the soundbar route to save a few hundred bucks. some energy rc-10s would have been sweet in the bedroom though...

I will be posting some new pics this weekend. I moved my fronts out of the cabinets and over to the sides onto speaker stands. I also invested in an Auralex Gramma sub riser which made a tremendous difference in LFE quality for the S10.3. I'll post again when the pics are up. |

I have not heard the new CFs or any of their line, my local energy dealer is not stocking anything but jamo inwall/ceiling speakers at the moment, because they are selling. But everything I have heard is that they sound as if the tweeter is a few db's too high... hmm, maybe we should all email Energy and tell them the new speakers suck... and to come up with something else... They better not F-up the RC series or I will be buying PSB speakers next time.... OR Dalis if I get a good enough deal. Maybe Totems... but I doubt I will get a great deal on them... |

I don't know what you're spend on the sound bar is going to be, but perhaps you could get the take system and an AA PSW8 and a cheap Sony DH700 and for $500 you could have a better setup then the sound bar.... Just a thought. |

the soundbar will probably come in right around $200. i had looked at getting a refurb HK avr 254 and possibly some rc 10s, axiom m3s or psb b6s or b25s. those together would come out to around $500, and i'd need to buy stands plus another sub eventually. to me that's too much for something just going into the bedroom. the sony soundbar has hdmi inputs that can accept lcpm from my ps3, so at least i would have 3.1 hd audio. i'd love to have a separate avr and bookshelves, but i think the cost outweighs my wants right now. i'd rather spend $500 on my main set-up... i am, however, toying w/ the idea of taking my adcom amp out of my current ht set-up and incorporating it into creating a dedicated set-up for music. logistics, though are my enemy as i have no idea where this "music" only set-up would go in my current house. also, the wife says i have enough speakers for the time being... |

I will most defenately consider Totem or even Axiom if I can hear them but from what I read from Pro reviewers, they are laid back sounding as well wich I truly love. PSB is another Canadian speaker brand I would like to have they sell them in Sony Style stores. God knows I might buy a Sony TV with PSBs in my next setup but I think I'll be leaning more towards the Staffs by Totem. Their sound is so unique. I will also consider giving a listen to Dali Concept speakers as per your recommendation, I know the dealer but I have not taken the time to go yet as it's about 30 miles from my home. So last night watching Terminator Salvation at near reference level... wife was trying to sleep... and I can tell you what. There was some awesome sound coming out all 6 of my speakers. Helicopters sounded real, bullets whizzing by, laser shots screaming past me. And the BASS on that movie, wow was that not something to behold. I know I only have a small cheapo Acoustic Audio sub, but it was bumpin'. What I thought was nice about the movies sound effects was the large robots moving and you could here all the nuances of their movements. Totally cool. Man, but the Energys were rockin.... so hard that near one of my C-100s I had some DVD we rented from BB and it knocked them off of the shelves... totally cool. Love that stuff to happen.

Music listening is really the only reason to ever upgrade. I'll probably have to settle for a good pair of earphones for now. (not that c-series isn't good for music, because they are ...) And about the new cfs "sucking" or whatever, a lot of people do seem to like them. Just not the same people who liked c-series. Bright is "in" right now, and outside of the audiophile world not many people like the warm balanced sound, they perceive it as lacking in detail, especially the type of people who usually are interested in the lower cost speakers like CF's, CBs. |

Ok, the new pics are up!
The RC-LCR's mid-range really opened up after moving them outside the cabinets. The result is an even warmer, fuller sound than before. The stands are well-built, attractive and heavy. Here are the ones I bought: http://www.standsandmounts.com/vtiuf...ilveruf29.aspx The sub's performance shines even more with the addition of the Gramma sub riser. It meshes even better now with the fronts. Both were great inexpensive enhancements to my system! Last edited by Bluray_ne1; 12-06-2009 at 03:38 AM. |

Sound is subjective, but what I find interesting is that many of the folks that I talked to about the CFs say they are tinny and its a little unnatural sounding the way the highs are. For a company that is so highly regarded that they put out a less then stellar speaker seems uncomprehendable. I guess bright is in, as you say, because HT is so popular, but you can still make a speaker that can produce 20-24khz without it sounding unnaturally bright, and having good warmth. I don't know a lot of people that own the CFs, but it doesn't seem like a lot of people favor them as much as the C-series, even in professional reviews. I can appreciate a lot of different sounds, even though I prefer warm over bright. |

Yet there are many people who beleive c-series were great, and now these same people sare saying the same thing about the new CF, CBs, and so the cycle continues. I'm not saying I support the new direction, just stating my observations. And about positoining your c-series for better imaging, that's a great idea. I've been playing around with mine, for 2 channel music listening and wow, my c-500's are capable of some crazy good imaging when setup right. I was listening to some 2 channel music, and the vocals sounded like they were comming from inbetween the speakers so, distretely, like in a DD or DTS 5.1 track that I actually had to get up and put my ear to my center channel to make sure it wasn't on, at the same time as the guitars and every instrument being identifyable by location. In my room, with the c-500s, an equilateral triangle with the speakers toed in so that if sitting in the sweet spot, they would be aimed at the middle of my shoulders, did the trick. I've tried many configerations, and nothing quite compared to this, in my listening room. |

Yes imaging is amazing. When I stand behind my couch I get the best imaging, which means they need to be a little closer together. The first few times I listened to cd's I had to put my ear up too and see if there was audio coming from my center.. |

Oh yeah, big-time. Like I said, the mids really opened up and they blend with the sub better too. Big Daddy hit it right on the head with the suggestion to move them out of the cabinets. I'm thrilled with the results.

Or perhaps in your case toeing them in more would do the trick, rather than moving the whole speaker in. I know for me the overall experience is much better with a wide distance and toe in than closer distance and more of a straight line aproach. It seems to really improve stereo seperation. Every room will be differnt though. It's just so great when you finally get it perfect. Last edited by Cpt_Dylan_Hunt; 12-06-2009 at 07:33 PM. |
