Default 1080i? You Sure??!?

I put the Pulp Fiction Blu-Ray on, and the first scene convinced me I was watching a DVD. Sure enough, my Oppo player displayed the input format as, not 1080-anything, or even 720-anything, but "PAL", i.e. 576 lines. I don't have access to the box (it's a rental), but what gives you fellows the idea that it's 1080i?

Given the matching extras, the disk appears to be transferred directly from a PAL DVD. In view of the fact that it's not available in Blu anywhere else in the world, I think there's something funky going on here.

Check your player settings... maybe if its not detecting anything but a 1080p signal, it drops the signal down.

Or maybe the rental place just gave you the wrong disc.

OOOOKay. so, after much deliberation, I opened my copy and popped it into my Region A PS3 and it's taking forever to play. Any clues?

Its a 1080i release, might not be compatible in your player?

I kind of thought this 'Briefcase' edition was very cheap imo, its not a briefcase for, its a cardboard box

Yeah I agree, this movie's prolly in my top ten of all time, and if it was a decent box set made with a little thought and some finesse I'd be all over it like stink on a monkey.

As it stands I just find it a little 'meh'.

Looks like Australia might just finally get a 1080p/24 release of Pulp Fiction and not the shithouse 1080i/50 release that subsequent collections have been stuck with.with
There is a re-release of Pulp Fiction (Sony, not Roadshow) and there is a release of a 9 movie Tarantino “Ultimate” collection.

I imported the UK release back in 2011 when I bought this 8 movie set:

Only to find it had the 1080i/50 transfer.

So, hopefully, Aussie’s will get a decent transfer at the correct film speed and not have to listen to songs sped-up, half an octave too high in pitch and the voices of actors sounding too high.
