I just don't think he did enough to warrant it, for me it really isn't all about numbers its about where the team is maybe thats wrong since its really an individual award, but if you've carried you're team to a NC and its because of you they are there then thats better then numbers unless its some shocking statistic like 28 int's or something.

I would argue that Ingram isn't even the best player on his team, let alone the country.

Maybe not, but they don't beat Florida without him. I think if you put Gearhart on Bama he'd do even better (just a guess), but I still think he showed more then SUH, its one thing to get help get you're team to the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl its quite another to tear up the defending NC team, and stroll on into the title game.

You can't look at Nebraska's record to see Suh's influence. Nebraska had one of the worst offenses in the country, just awful. Take the Iowa State game as an example. The offense turned it over 8 times, and they only lost by 2. Iowa State was not a good defense, that was just the offense virtually handing the ball to the defense. A normal defense would have given up at least 35 points in the game, Nebraska gave up 9, with Suh blocking an extra point. I don't think Nebraska wins more than 4 games without Suh. I think there's probably 40 quarterbacks that could have led Texas to an undefeated season with their schedule, and probably 20 running backs that could have led Stanford or Alabama to similar records. I just think Suh made the biggest impact on his team.

I don't think Suh will win the award though, and I don't have a problem with Ingram or Gearhart winning the award. McCoy doesn't deserve it with the season he had. I would actually say Jordan Shipley was the best Texas player this year. Tebow doesn't deserve to even go to New York. He was good but not amazing this season.

As someone who has watched every Alabama game this year... he's been the most consistent player on the team. The only game where he really didn't produce was against Auburn, and even then he was a huge help because Auburn's defense was concentrating so heavily on him that it left others open. Like I said earlier... there are others with a little more total yardage for the season, but I would doubt there is anyone that has more after contact yardage. The way that man is able to shake off tackles that would take most backs out, and keep pressing forward is something to see.

Almost half of his yardage is AFTER contact yardage. It's really impressive to watch him move past two, three and more attempted tackles.
Sure, some might have more yardage. But they don't play in the SEC.

It probably just reflects my ignorance of him. Has nothing to do with his ability.

I wouldn't get too excited until they actually sign. I guarantee Urban Meyer isn't going to stop recruiting them and he's stolen some committed recruits on signing day before.

ESPN is reporting that Notre Dame has hired Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly as their new football coach.

I've been expecting as much since day one. Once it because clear that neither Meyer or Stoops would be leaving their respective programs and TCU locked Patterson up in a long term deal, it had to be Brian Kelly. He's a damn good coach, but there is a big difference between Central Michigan, Cincinnati, and Notre Dame. He will be feeling the pressure to win from the moment he steps into his office. I really think that if the big brass at Notre Dame want to contend for national titles again, it's time to get with the program and scale back those admission standards for athletes. To compete with the best, you need to be on a level playing field. Let's get with the times Notre Dame.

Cincinnati's players are not happy with Kelly leaving, and most of them are publicly stating how upset they are with Kelly. I saw 6 players interviewed on Sportscenter this morning and all of them talked about how mad they are about Kelly leaving and how it was them, the players, and not Kelly that were the big reason for their success. One of the players said he hoped Kelly doesn't coach the bowl game and none of them wished him good luck. It has since been confirmed that Kelly won't coach in the Sugar Bowl.

I read some comments, too, today. Several players are really, really upset about it. Apparently Kelly told them all the way they'd "be the first to know," but in reality were the LAST to know. Several walked out of Kelly's meeting.

I hate this about college football. It's such a joke. It's one of the reasons I detest Saban (who's done it twice - once to MSU, once to LSU), and I'll forever hate Kelly, too.

i don't understand why a big school like ND would hire Kelly. he may turn out to be great but seriously, before the last few years, did anyone know who Kelly was? imo, they should of thrown record breaking money at meyer/stoops. they might have and it still failed but i can't see Kelly attracting recruits because he's coach Kelly. they would only come for ND. while a coach like stoops/meyer would pull in recruits just based on their resume of winning and developing pro players.
