I normally wouldn't post, but I would suggest that care be taken with Cold Mountain on BD, as it is technically "joined at the hip" with Gangs of New York in terms of quality.

Same studio, same post facility, same horrific quality on SD, followed by horrific BD on GoNY.

Please ensure that BD quality is in place before purchasing.

It is not the finest Blu I own, but it looks a lot better then my DVD version. I love the movie and my mife loves it too. It was worth the double dip to me.

There have been plenty of great sales for the Canadian release of Cold Mountain, but I have resisted the urge, despite having it in my hands several times from the sale rack at Best Buy. Bonus features are a big draw for me, and the SD DVD issue had plenty of them, including a great concert and on-stage discussion from the late Anthony Minghella. The Can BD has no bonus features.

So, for me, I either have to buy the DVD for the bonus features and double dip for the BD, or wait for a second international reissue with (presumably) the bonus features included.

Mr. Harris, since Gangs of New York is being remastered by Disney, is there any chance that this one will be revisited soon too?

Thanks Mr. Harris. I guess I will wait for the inevitable release of the U.S. version. Hopefully the quality will be better.

I picked it up from inetvideo and watched it a few months back - really enjoyed the movie and the picture quality was plenty good enough to not be a distraction to me. Glad to own this one.

Fine movie, took it's time to tell the story. Didn't have a sugarcoated ending, which I love.

BUMP!

Are there any problems with the US-american rights (Miramax->Lionsgate)? Or what takes them so long to release this movie?
