My girlfriend and I watch a lot of movies too, thats what our netflix account is for. I still head to the theatres when it's something I'm really excited for. For example I saw Inglorious Basterds in the theaters and more recently I saw The Road.

Nothing beats seeing a real film projected on a big screen, although BD sure is sweet.

I also saw Inglorious basterds in theater and preordered it on BD. My theaters here don't impress me as much as a blu. The size is a plus but i feel the pq doesnt doesn't even come close to BD.

The act of going to the movie theatre is enjoyable, but with concession prices where they are, I don't disagree for people to just watch at home. The thing for me is actually the sound because I don't have a sound system in my apartment.

I feel the same way. Casino Royale is a perfect example; the picture did not wow me in theaters but it sure does on Blu-ray. I don't really mind the prices at theaters but that is mostly because I try not to think about them.

While I love seeing a movie on the big screen, some of the people I see movies with prefer to sit toward the back and it seems like the same as watching a movie from the couch in terms of how much of your vision the screen takes up.

As soon as I get a place with enough room for a projector, I'm getting a really nice 1080p projector and a 120" screen. Coupled with my sound system, I'll be pretty happy

I'll still go to the movies, but only ones that I'm excited to see. Netflix can take care of the rest

how do you like your Onkyo set up? i was thinking about the one you have or the 607. I don't plan on getting a true HT until March 2010 or so. Should I wait until a newer model comes out? I'm pretty clueless with audio. I have a Sony HTIB right now it's horrible!!!

Agree with you on that score. In my country it is about the same price to go to the theater as buying the BD if one are two.The experience is better in the theater as a whole, but you get the added comfort at home+no unwanted chatter or cellphone-glare

I prefer going to the movies. Back in Hawaii, I'd rather go to the dollar theater and pay $1 a ticket compared to the first showing theaters in Hawaii were like $9 a ticket. But, since I've moved back to Ohio, the first run theaters here have like specials where you only pay $4.50 a ticket on the first showing. It's a freakin' miracle to me.

The PQ is way better on blu then theater though. if u have the right setup I think blu runs circles around the theater! Got Em!!

I may not have the best HT setup, but do not agree with you on that score.Think it is getting close, but not there yet.Got pana 46" full HD and a good stereo receiver for sound+speakers (denons PMA 2000) and sound is nice, but not as nice as my local cinema, but mind you it is the worlds largest THX-certified cinema so takes some beating
