I've been priveliged to be given a sneak peak media copy of the GT Academy GT5 Time Trial game. It is really stripped down as it only has 2 cars (the normal 370z and a tuned version) and 1 track (the Indianapolis Speedway GP circuit) and was a quick 219MB download. It has the familiar GT5P functionality, look and feel.



R1/R1 tyres a lovely and grippy. But for a quick trip back to reality, the N3/N3 tyre combo requires finesse the peddles and a deft touch on the wheel.

As you can see, the game version I have will expire, so I best make the most of it.





While there are two individual time trials for the normal and tuned, the total time is also taken into account.

There are a few glitchy moments with the version I have with a noticeable hiccup every time I cross the line. I hope that this will be ironed out before release day of the fully fledged competition game.

And that's a little bit of a disappointment to me... as I am a competition licence holder I am not eligible to enter this, so will watch from the sidelines and see how the Antipideon drivers fair.

The time trial based ‘GT Academy’ version of Gran Turismo 5, which launches this Thursday, has the Indianapolis Speedway GP Circuit (as we said last week) and is just 220MB, according to reports this morning. The two versions of the Nissan 370z are locked with R1s for the tuned version and N3 for the normal street version and the demo as a whole feels ’stripped down’. Apparently it’s your total time that’s going to be taken into account, so you’ll need to be handy with both versions of the car if you want to succeed.

To be honest, I’m a little disappointed. I know this is meant to just be a proper time trial exercise for the GT Academy, but since GT 5 now won’t be out until at least Summer next year, more could have been done to give us, Polyphony’s rather patient fanbase, something more than just one track and one car – something they did with GTHD back at the launch of the console. Still, hopefully we’ll get a chance to have some fun little TSA Challenges out of this one for us mere mortals.

The demo was specifically designed for this competition to showcase the realism of the brand-new physics engine and to challenge players’ driving skills using professional driving physics and many of the driving assists disabled. The full Gran Turismo 5 will feature multiple driving assists and various settings that can be changed to make the game easier or more challenging and realistic.

I don't see 950+ cars and their textures fitting in 220mb
Pllus it goes against report of the Nissans beign the only car available.

I guess someone should read: The demo will be very challenging (as it's a Time Trial test as well), but -THE FULL GAME- will have several assist options that one will be able to turn on, and the retail version you will be able to enjoy all 950+ cars plus other features.

My take is that they are receiving feedback of people who might be afraid of the difficulty and the availability of only 1 car.

Not to sound negative, but why do I feel that Kazunori is full of sh*t. I bought a PS3 3 years ago just to play this game because at the at the time it was supposed to come out that year. It seems like everything Kaz says in interviews later turns out to be untrue. Im really starting to become disspapointed in the GT series. Kaz said, we can release GT5 at any time, then later he said it was 65% complete, WTF?!

I was really hoping for more in the demo coming out, but it looks like GT5P with a few minor changes.

If Kaz was a woman he would be the biggest c*ck tease in the world :P
