You never said it was a gift in your first post. Even so, I'd say ask the person who gave it to you for a gift receipt.

And even though it is a gift, it's still frowned upon. You don't have the original receipt or a gift receipt, so don't take it back to a store. Try trading it, or pass it on to another friend/family member.
