Default Need help with ideas on TV placement

Guys,

I need help with some ideas on how I can raise my TV and have my center on top of the e. center. I can not move the set up at all I am stuck with the placement. Does anyone have any idea on a piece of furniture that will help with my needs or any off the wall idea? I am stumped!

Thanks

Unless you want to replace the a/v cabinet with one that has an attached mount for the tv, I think you could build a riser tall, wide, deep and strong enough to slide the center channel into, and support the tv.

You mean like a upside down U that would site on top correct? That's not a bad idea. Do you have any furniture in mind? I seem to find nothing with my requirements.

+1 D! That's about the only way you can do it.

Shockwave, yes, an inverted ''U''. For furniture, you can go to http://www.salamanderdesigns.com and use the configuration app. to build your cabinet to suit your needs, and add the mount kit as well. It's all modular, and you can pick color, feet, doors, etc. It will also allow you to print at the end, and includes the price. Good luck my friend. D.

Good idea, but I wouldn't use a U-shaped riser. I would recommend you build (or buy) a box. A 'U' would be weaker and could collapse, crushing your center speaker and/or dump your TV on the floor. And don't forget to brace the corners so that it holds its shape. You could also put a closed back on it if you leave a hole for the speaker wires.

Wall mount the TV with an arm-style mount. You want to let that center breathe.

Thanks for the help fellas. All the info led me to this.

Seriously debating it, just not sure it would hold my set. The measurements on the mount seem to match but still nervous.

Update.. This seems to hold a lot more weight so I am leaning towards this one.

That's a given. Wasn't suggesting just a top and two sides. Sorry that I forgot to mention the closed back. That is what I meant. Thank you for catching that.

I believe Ozzman did this with his TV...you could PM him and he could tell you what he used and how it is working out for him......

What do you guys think of the stand I made in gallery? I actually made it a bit bigger because I know my center is going to be upgraded next year. Plan to hit it will some clear to darken it up, but the flash washes out the real color.

Should I put it back to the old way or keep it?

I think it looks pretty good. How's the sound now? Also, how much has the viewing angle of the set changed? If the viewing angle is still good I'd leave it since you now have the center in an ideal location.

Thanks lojack. It only raised it 11.5 inches and it's as high as it would be if it was mounted. Really looks fine on viewing angle. The sound really does seem to have improved. The sounds stage seems fuller, voice are clearer as well.

I just had a idea and I think I am going to find a granite product and glue it to the face and the sides. If anyone has any idea of a product please point me to it.

Shockwave,

Nice job. Did you find some stock granite or did you have to have it cut?

Thanks, the granite really put it in place for me. I didn't like what I did at first, but now I really like it.

I went to a granite and marble fabricator. Picked out the granite I wanted and gave them the measurements for them to cut it all out. Search granite fabricator locally if you are looking for the same.
