So I've been using this Blu-Ray player for a couple months now. I put in the Inglourious Basterds Blu-Ray and it goes through the menu and everything, but when the movie is supposed to start, it just sits on a black screen. I can't press any buttons except stop. I tried it a second time and it still wouldn't work. So I went online and downloaded the latest firmware, burned it, and put it in. After "updating," my Blu-Ray player opened up and said UPD NG. Afterwards, the player just keeps opening and closing saying "Insert Disc" and won't even turn off unless I unplug it. After reading a little bit, I found at that it was a problem that I burned it with Windows Vista. So then I burned it with my friend's computer (which is on Windows XP), but the exact same thing happened. It just keeps opening and closing and it won't let me play any movies. What should I do? Thanks.

Similar thing happened to me with the Inglourious Basterds BD. Updated the firmware via CD-Rom and the disc will now play, but now the audio transfer from the BD player to the AV receiver is screwed up. Have checked all connections and cables into the receiver and the only input affected is the HDMI from the BD player.

Well I just called Panasonic and they told me I need to send it in to them for repairs. The guy I spoke to hadn't ever heard of this problem. He also said the I need to buy an SD Card of at least 1 GB in order to play Inglourious Basterds. Are there any other options or am I gonna have to send it in? I'd like to just get rid of this Blu-Ray player and get a better one.

you have to configure your internet connection and your network settings on the player. check the manual. if you dont have one check the link on the first post of this thread. but i doubt it will work. if your player is already updated to the current firmware, it will say so wether its working or not and i dont think you can roll back to a previous one. |

So should it play Inglourious Basterds after they return it to me?
Yea, I can't do anything to the Blu-Ray player anymore, the tray just keeps opening everytime I close it. Kind of lame that I have to pay for shipping to Panasonic for a problem with their product. |

there is a problem with this title. you dont need a SD card to play it. when I talked with panasonic. they were aware of the problem and looking into it. just have to patient. what I am saying is that you don;t need to send the player in. Jacob |

yes i have the latest firmware. the firmware before the lastest was done at the repair shop. i was afraid to update but since i still have a warranty ill make them fix it again. also, dont let them make you pay for shipping. they tried that with me. i told them it was only four months old and thier firmware broke the playback and they wanted me to pay?! dont think so. ![]() |

Iv been through the PS3, bdp-05fd, and now i have the oppo.
the oppo is the king of all bluray players for a steal. It truly is the worry free best bluray player in terms of build quality, premium look, construction, aesthetics/look, functionality, and playback speed. The upconvert is so dam good it is like blu-ray quality. I couldnt tell the difference watching the ugly truth in SD upconvereted by it, or the blu-ray itself |

Strange - my DMP-BD35, last year's model, wouldn't play Basterds either. Just got stuck on the menu music over and over.
[Show spoiler] I had to use my PS3. I updated the firmware, and hope it didn't make it go nuts. Let me try it out to make sure - but I'm in the market for a new player just in case. |
