Their first encounter with the first Black Riders in the Green Hill country;
Farmer Maggot;
The Old Forest;
Tom Bombadil and Goldberry;
the Barrow Wright and the correct acquisition of Merry and Pippin's weapons;
meeting with Glorfindel (vice Arwen);
the battle with the wolves after being defeated by Caradhras;
Mirrormere, Nimrodel, and Cerin Amroth (with a flashback to Aragorn and Arwen's betrothal there;
the "real" scenes in Galadriel's mirror, with Sam;
the actual gifts given to the Fellowship by Galadriel;
what Frodo saw on Amon Hen;

The Two Towers;
Helms Deep without the Lothlorien elves
Faramir as depicted by Tolkien - he never would have attempted to take the ring;

Return of the King:
Journey of Frodo and Sam to Mordor as written - Sam was not "sent home" by Frodo;
Ghan-buri-Ghan;
Death of Theoden per the book; Theoden to Eomer, "Hail, King of the Mark!";
Challenge of Gandalf to the King of the Nazgul (Gandalf did not wait to die in a courtyard);
Development of romance between Faramir and Eowyn;
Scouring of the Shire and the actual death of Wormtongue and Saruman;
Sam's planting of the mallorn tree where Bilbo's party tree had been cut down;
and of course the epilogue

Just a few ideas; anyone have any others?
Maybe we could make a thread out of this?
Right now I can't think of anything to add to the list. It looks pretty complete.

It costs money to put trailers from the same movie onto a disc. That's the reason.

'Only'? They're both lossless, and sound the same. It doesn't matter which one you use.

Are you sure about that
I thought on all the blu ray discs there would only be te supertrailer. like shown here:
Trailers
"The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest" Game Trailer
"The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy Supertrailer]
"The Lord of the Rings: War in the North" Game Trailer

from blu-ray.com

so which one is right really hope digitalbits is correct

Regardless if they're on it or not, it's a different medium. Just like a distributor has the rights to release something on DVD, it doesn't mean he can release the Blu-ray.

Not talking about DTS-MA's slightly-higher-resolution advantage over TrueHD on 'very high-end' sound systems here, but just to recall things, the audio spec previously listed was DTS MA 7.1 and now it's merely 5.1. I have an 7.1 system and this would definitely make a difference!

Disappointed likewise.

I am calling BS on this.........there is absolutely no way you would be able to tell the dif in a double blind test even on a "very high-end" sound system with the slightly-higher-resolution. As far as 5.1 to 7.1, again once you apply PLIIx the dif between that and discrete 7.1 would be extremely small even on your "8.1" system whatever that means.

First of all, sorry, typo, it's not 8.1 but 7.1.

1. Get yourself King Kong and Star Trek BDs, compare them on a Yamaha DSP-Z9 mated to a set of good digital speakers, and you'll see what I mean (despite both being 5.1). Please, no theories here, just practical application of what I've seen in real.

2. PLIIx is the best solution, I know; but not everyone can afford to have the licence

What exactly is the point of comparing two different movies with each other?

Because everything is compared to the likes of Star Trek and Transformers without taking into account the fact that not all films look the way Star Trek looks.

If digitalbits is correct then it is awesome these trailers are just out this world and in HD:rock

Still bummed about the movies are only True HD and not DTS Master. When there even was mention about them being it

Will this set also include this LOTR Supertrailer then like advertised?

I hope they are right about the trailers.

That is the 2nd biggest negative about the 'extended cuts' of LOTR movies. No original trailers on the discs! I loved those so much... especially the Two Towers and Return of the King trailers.

Oh and btw the biggest negative is they are on two dvd discs.

According to the listing on thedigitalbits.com, it will be included on the Return of the King BD (which makes sense, as it was originally included on the RotK theatrical DVD).
