Short answer:No.

Long Answer: It depends on how large your room is, how far away your seat is from the TV, whether or not you are actually watching 1080p content and how good your vision is.

I'm sick and tired of this FUD. It really depends on your vision and distance from the screen.

Whomever wrote that piece is obviously a plasma fanboy trying to get people to buy plasmas.

Looking at the context, they seem to be talking about video games which tend to be 720p anyway.

In a nutshell, 720p content will look basically the same on a 1080p display but 1080p content will look better on a 1080p display.
