Wow, soldering by hand is now an item to ensure full quality? On pins the size of a needle and are spaced less than 40 mils away from each other?

I think if they said it was precision soldered by a robot I'd be more impressed, but that's just me.

There is something to be said about build quality and quality control but when it comes to digital signal cables, especially when you consider that monoprice and other "reasonably priced" cables are at least 3-5 times cheaper, and they too come with replacement warranties, I'll take the "reasonably priced" models any day.

Analog cables is another story altogether.

This part made me laugh a lot! All I could think of is the phrase that I love saying, "I'm not even mad........ I'm actually impressed."~Ron Burgandy

HAHA If you've seen Anchor Man then you'll know what I'm talking about.

Not exactly,
A digital signal path is other than the end-all, be-all.
For both digital and analog signals it's more about engineering than cost!!
Price/packaging is the sales/marketing component that often has little to do with the quality of the transmission line, since the cable is often pennies per foot regardless of the cable retail cost.

I can find excellent quality (tested, gold connector, 100% shielded) inexpensive audio cables for less than $20 also.
CABLES - function as a transmission line, between the system components. The digital (wire & fiber) and analog signal paths both need the appropriate fabrication quality and functional specifications to be a good transmission-line for the signal being carried.

Both digital and analog signal paths have an impedance, bandwidth and shielding requirement. Quality cable fabrication from the correct material (connector & wire) are the only requirements.

Speaker wire doesn't need to be made from large gage welding cable. You just don't want the speaker wire resistance to dominate the speaker/amp dampening factor. Dampening factor (very good > 100) = wire resistance(12AWG @.0016/ft) + speaker impedance(nom 8 ohm)/amplifier output impedance(Crown D-150A @ .03 ohm). After that selecting a larger wire size is of no benefit to sound quality.
