Question Polk RTI A5 with onkyo 607

Hey guys!

Ok so i've been doing my research on speakers this past few weeks and I've had my eye on the RTI series. My question is would the 607 have enough power to run these speakers well or would i need to look into buying a different receiver? Originally I was going to do a 1k budget but it looks like my taste is a little more expensive after doing some research.

Also, when I look into putting a HT together, what should be my first pick, speaker or receiver?

thanks,

thepope

Well, i would say pick the speakers first so you know what receiver/amp you will need to drive the speakers properly. I suppose the Onkyo 607 would drive them decently enough, but I would suggest that you look at perhaps at Yamaha 765 so that you can have pre-out just in case you find you want or need more power you can add an amp.

Also, Have you spent time auditioning speakers? Polks are great, but I would not just decide without listening to as many speakers as you possibly can.

PSB Image, Energy RC, Monitor Audio RS6, Jamo 607s, Def Tech BP6Bs, KEF iQs, Dali Concept 6s or 8s.... All are great also and definetly speakers you should have a listen to.

no I haven't, just reviews. I suppose i'll have to find a decent retailer around town. Most electronic stores around me are pretty generic and don't interest me(best buy, nebraska furniture mart).

in the link above has each of the speakers website listed and a couple that have some of the speakers on sale. You can click on the where to buy/find a dealer link and put in your zipcode or city and state and find the most local dealer.... depending on where you live exactly you may be suprised by what is around you....

If you want PM me your zipcode and city, and I can help you too. I will be bored at work tomorrow....

callas has helped many a member with that resource of his......he even found stuff around where I live (although I still wish some of the better ones were even closer to me...just call me greedy. )

Hey callas, just an FYI, but I will be working today like yourself, and I will be busy, so I don't know which is worse, being bored or being swamped?
