Does anyone know about the There will Be Blood collector's edition blu ray? Best Buy's site has it coming out early 2010. Just wondering how it differs from the current version. Thanks.

I think its just the same BD as before with a new packaging, like they are doing with Casablanca, a gold slipcover with Academie Awards on it. I think?

Yep. Warner and Paramount are doing an Academy Awards promotion so a number of titles are getting new Academy Award Gold slipcovers.

I thought the video transfer was kind of shoddy, but not much chance of them remastering a new movie I suppose. Probably just a new box

Transfer was great but this film really need a special edition with loads of extra features.

Nothing wrong with the transfer, it is suppose to have a griddy look to it.

Casablanca is gonna have a regular BD case version coming out soon for the Academy Awards with a Gold slip cover??? and where do we find these???

The blu already has some nice extras IMO, not gonna upgrade since I'm happy with the current version.

Got it for less than 9 bucks at B&N a month ago!

Regular case came out back in September, as for this new release with a different slip cover it's on Amazon and I am guessing will be in every stores as well.

I thought it was reference. I saw it in the theater twice and it looked very similar on BD. And I thought it looked great in the theater.

If you're going for a gritty look, somehow I doubt shooting anamorphic 35mm with a very fine grain film stock is the first place you go...
guess I've been spoiled by the likes of Braveheart but I found it utterly unimpressive for a new film... just my opinion of course.
