That's because they're gonna have the BD30 in stock on 10-14-07. It will probably be on sale within the next 8 to 10 days.

Someone over at AVS posted a link earlier in the week that is was on Best Buy for Business and it was at $499. It is on the CC site for $599. And where I am sure gvortex7 looked it up in the computer the dates are know to be off quite often.
For instance the elite95 I want has a date of 10/08 but still there are none in the local warehouse.

The post is a little misleading. Panasonic is being carried at BB just not the DMP-BD10A since Panasonic themselves have discountinued that model. They will be releasing a new model in the upcoming weeks if not days

It's not just that I looked it up on a computer, but I also have been working for BBY for about 8 years now, so speaking from experience about when pruducts appear after they're given the in-stock date, it'll be on sale in less than two weeks.

And yes, it will be $599.99.

Panasonic will be making an announcement officially about the DMP-BD30K on October 30th. I'll be surprised if it streets before then.

Does anyone know if this will be an upgraded model to the BD10A? are there any reviews on it yet? will it handle dtshd-ma?

i know gvortex7 has told me that the new pioneer elite 95 will kick but and is pretty much the top one on the market when it comes out. how does the new panny compare to the new elite?

The simple fact is that nobody knows. There are no specs avail. for this player at all.

Where I can agree that the 95 is the top of the line right now it will have a very short stay. Since the Denon is due out in Dec. and it will be 1.1 and decode MA. And if this player happends to be 1.1 then it might even remove the 95 from that spot and at a cheaper price.

Honestly, as someone has already eluded to it earlier, this new Panny player is one of the best kept secrets in the electronics world maybe ever.
No one really knows how it looks (although I've seen pics that depict it looking exactly as the BD10A) or how it performs and even what features it may have. Other than Panasonic insiders of course.

I don't know how Panasonic pulled this off, but it is an impressive feat indeed nowadays that not even a little tidbit has leaked onto the internet about it.

Anyway, it remains to be seen how well it stacks up against all the upcoming and already released 3rd generation players, but if the past is any indication then you can be rest assured that it will be up there with the top two or three BD players in the market.

So than it is probably worth waiting for the either the elite, panny or denon to come out before i pull the trigger on buying one. i was going to buy the panny and take advantage of the 5 free movies in the box and be able to order another 5 free by mail.

Panasonic will start selling 3 new BD recorders on Nov.1 in Japan, and according to the press release, all of them are compliant with Profile 1.1 and supporting 24p, DTS-HD MA stream out . I don't think new player released for this holiday season in NA doesn't support those spec.

Those models utilize new 1 chip SoC called "UniPhier" supporting all functionalities required for BD-ROM and also HD MPEG-4 AVC HP encoder in it. At the Panasonic CEATEC booth, graphics performance demonstrations of this chip were held - two HD AVC stream decoding, graphics performance demo like google maps (smooth scrolling and zooming), and tiny shooting game over HD movie. So, I think, at least BD-J performance would be much better than current standalone players.

And despite no mention in its press release, according to a rep at Sony booth, their new BD recorders are also compliant with Profile 1.1. New Pioneer BD player in Japan would be Profile 1.0 with DD+/DTS-HD HR decoding + DTS-HD MA stream out.
