Acoustic Audio suggested this as a solution for "Humming Sound". Give it a try it might work.
I agree I guess I misread. I already thought he tried that. I have a bunch of those for work, and in the right situation they actually work pretty nice. But I don't think that's gonna clean up his signal but it might considering it will be a break in the direct amp to wall plug in. But what I would try also just because the amp doesn't have a ground is to really try to break it up and use that adapter in the wall then hook up a 5 outlet strip or surge protector to utilize the ground. Hope that made sense I'm on my damn phone and I hate texting :/

Default Why Oh Why!?!

Hey all, just got the HD-12 in the door. Beautiful and UPS must've only dropped it once as one of the feet came off bent. I was able to screw it back in even bent so no real harm. The UPS guy said, " Boy, I'm glad you were home!" He didn't relish carrying the sub back to his truck. To my Point!
Why do they send this with cheap-o RCA cable and the 'Y' for that when most? folks have a sub-out and need the reverse 'Y'? I guess it could be me but I bought an excellent sub cable and have to attach it to a Y I don't have. Wish they would have included both 'Y's.
Ok, done *****in' but if someone can explain why they went so cheap i would appreciate it as RCA cable is common as dust and not bothered and simply include both types of 'Y's and don't know who has it in stock. Guess I wan't done *****ing after all! If I want to use my sub cable alone for now(yes, I read it will be a few db less) does it matter which RCA jack on the back of the sub I plug into? I know I saw a post on it in this thread but searching did not turn it up.
Thanks,
Lar

I agree. Most new avr's have a single sub. out connection. They're probably thinking two subs. so a line out going each direction then to a "y". Who knows??? And yes, you will lose a few db's by not connecting both line ins with a "y" connector. Generally if using only one input its the (l) red but doesn't really matter. For these subs its best with the "y". Cost is about $2-$4. Good luck.

so i should buy a 3 to 2 prong adapter, plug that into the wall outlet, then plug a new Surge protector into that and then my sub into the surge protector????? Do i then have to add a ground from the 3 to 2 prong adapter to something???? Should i just open up the sub and see if i can see anything in there causing this, or is it most likely something internal of the amp

Does opening up the sub myself void my shady warranty with them?

umm.. yes..?? Trying to limit whats wrong i guess.. But all surge protectors have a ground, So plug the adapter into the wall, then the SP into the adapter, that way you have things hooked up as best as possible to try to eliminate any interference that might be in your homes electrical.

Maybe its your receiver

Plug the surge protector into the 3 to 2 prong adater
then plug the 3 to 2 prong adapter into the wall
then just plug all my electronics back into the surge protector

And hopefully this fixes the hum?

Any other things i should pick up at radio shack? Leavin in like 30 mins

Like I and a few others suggested 5 pages ago.. Its your amp.. Just like a hum in your car through your speakers is 99% of the time caused by your alt ( and 1% a bad ground ) This is almost as obvious.. If you have a standard home your wiring is 14/2 or 12/2 And if it was an electrical issue , you would be experiencing a hell of alot more issues than humming.. Starting back at the breaker where each 110 splits into the box.. Its your amp.. send that bish back

I cant say "for sure" but it really sounds like an amp issue, especially from what ive read on humming issues with the amp in this thread.. You could try it i guess, its probably only a few bucks, but i dunno "for sure"

does it hurt anything losing that third ground for the surge protector?

I mean when i plug my 3 prong surge protector into the 2 prong adapter and then plug that into the wall outlet. Does losing that 3rd prong hurt any electronics? Wont that make it so if my receiver metal case became energized and i touched it i would get zapped?
