The Incredible Bullshitting Man!

As for AVF, that place went to the dogs ages ago (at least the HD area). Haven't been there in months and have no plans to return. Those poor deluded souls have a neglible (probably zero) impact on the format war anyway - akin to Ferets fighting in a sack - so they're welcome to their idle ramblings.

Hello guys!!

As fellow BR owner now.. I just thought I'd say hi.

In all honesty Jaguar the post I made, that you've quoted was meant to be more amusing than insulting... with hind sight after reading it back, I don't think it really came across that well... but nevermind, lifes too short and I'm sure we're all capable of taking comments like that and ignoring them

As for AVS being pro HD-DVD , Personally I think you are wrong, but thats just my opinion.

I do think they are right in trying to reduce the numbers of format war threads, the manufacturers and studios may want a war, but there doesn't need to be any war between AV fans. And most of us are getting really bored talking about it. We just want to enjoy the movies..

We all know that if you want all films you need both formats, endlessly debating who will win what and why or how, is IMO pointless..

Anyhow...
Don't sit here moaning about AVS, obey the rules and get along, or forget about it and move on. But don't let any of it get you down.

Regards BM

SSUUSSSHHH guys he's here

Not moaning about it, just found it all quite entertaining in overview mode. Pecker is a twat end of story.

Come on most threads in the blu ray section end up as format war theads, as soon as pecker enters you know what will happen. theres a reason why some of the more prominent and respected members have spent less and less time in the hidef player section, yes it got extremely tedious. I dont want to have to defend blu ray everytime a new thread opens. lets see, profile issues go straight up, followed by lack of complete specc followed by...... yeah its so predictable and its always the same 2-3 posters. Dont see me in the HD DVD section laying waste to threads like pecker does? er no.
Im all for talking about formats but recycling the same old crap in almost every thread, give me a ****ing break already.

I did post the reply on AVF before I read the rest of the thread, so felt a little bad when I saw your explanation.

But I left it anyway.

Hey, maybe this can be an unnofficial thread to discuss UK HD?

It helps being Blu-ray only, obviously, but this site shows it is possible to discuss format war stuff and movies, so long as there are dedicated areas.

It's only movies, it doesn't keep me up at night!

welcome welcome welcome.

We do enjoy the movies, but you cant discuss ANY of the stuff that goes with it on avf without someone coming in to thread spoil, so i stick to my own little corner to help people with room acoustics and talk about BD over here, without someone butting in and saying 'but..but..but...BD+ will make all the computers of the world explode!'

I prefer to ignore posts that I find are complete nonsense.... and yes you get it on both sides! all sides, and just plain nonsense!

It is these threads which I feel have led to to other members leaving, which I agree is a great shame, these people contributed the most in terms of information and 'insider' news..

I think we all know who the trolls are, but then we are all gulity of rising to it. i believe the pros and cons of both formats should be discussed. I'm not blaming anyone specifically but you have to admit, it's become difficult to dicuss the problems with either format without being jumped on by the fanboys... I'm not calling every who supports BR a fanboy, but it seems for whatever reasons that there are less people bothered about jumping into to defend HD-DVD..

I think we all find it annoying when someone posts nonsense, whether it for or against any format..

state of UK HD, blu leading sales 4:1 is enough for me. rest of europe slowly going the same way is enough for me.
japan in the bag, a few of places only have blu as hddvd hasnt even lauched. NA is the last HD DVD strong hold, and its not overly strong.
Q4 is going to be exceeding interesting, Can tranformers win 1 week at amazon for HD DVD, if it dosent, then thats a great sign of things to come. If it does will it be just a blip (surly HDDVD can win one week these days with quite possible there strongest title of the year, Born ultimatum being the other)

well see

Don't want to winge or be biased, but would someone please close this thread as I find these BR fanboys and their whining almost as annoying as political Correctness. Let them go and shout about the war elsewhere IMO. It seems that for most of us the war will be over by christmas..

I found it interesting that Spiderman 3/Boxset is currentrly outselling (pre-orders) Transformers 78-22 at a UK online site, maybe it's Play or Amazon UK, not sure.

I wonder what percentage of UK HD-DVD owners will buy the US release.

agree, FUD is FUD no matter which side its on. But it is a tad tedious when its the same few over and over. when you get an email to say a post has been made i know by the name if i can be bothered to continue discussion.
thankfully the projector section, and for the most, the rest of the forum is just not the same as the hidef player section. I have great discussion in the PJ section and i really enjoy AVF for that area

I mean you are a big part of why AVForums has turned to shyte. Are you here now to do the same?
I'm shocked badass honestly...

First point... that post.. Political correctness... ie everyone ***** footing around the issue without saying how they feel, which is what the OP was saying that he wants to discuss this and in a manner he see fit, without any of the sniping that seems to happen in other areas of the forum, which I can understand... but like with political correctness this does invariable offend poeple and lead to all out arguments etc... so that was my point, which I was trying to make, whilst making a tongue in check post that was in it's self OTT.... as I said it didn't come across as intended and with hind sight wasnt a great post..

As for me being responsible for AVS turinign to shite I'm sorry you feel that way, I've enjoyed many of your posts and found them very amusing.. I think a wicked sense of humour is probably responsible and it lightened the mood IMO many times... but you knew what effect it woul d have when you did it.

Don't worry this is a one night special, I'll leave you to your discussions...

quite a few will go USA as its already out. I have my copy (ducks for cover), not much point waiting for the UK version so once again the USA numbers are swollen with many euro orders. HDDVD has to win this week or its a big slap in the face for the format and for paramount.
But spidey will sell in a big way. great showdown

Unfortunately if your more blunt on AVF, your post is usually removed.

well as a blu owner you are most welcome to the group, a few more sales wont hurt.
I think reading this forum and some of the others provides a sort of balance of opinion, where its not so blinkered, which can happen if you get absorb by one forum only. Before coming to this site i had no idea the strides blu Ray is making behind the scenes, and it was a great part of the reason why i broke from my HDDVD only stance.

Cheers Dustin,

I seem to spend too long on forums these days anyway...

I hope AVS doesn't become too biased either way... IMO it's pretty fair at the moment. I'm not going to pretend that I think every mods makes the correct decision every time, but I think there needs to be rules in places like that and you have to learn to live with them as many seem to... and in general the balance with AVforums is pretty good.

I also think that there's enough discussion about 'the war' in the media and on other forums and that perhaps creating a 'safe zone' where we can get back to the important issues is a good idea. It just takes responsibility from all posters to try to keep it real, and not get involved in spreading FUD.

I'll try and make sure I do in the future and hope to see you guys on there too, as I agree without a balanced spread of opinon it would be a rather dull place.

well, im always harsh on pecker, because he just gets under my skin, otherwise its never personnel on these forums, we all will never agree on the same things, that would be pretty boring.
what one thinks is very importent to a format is MEH for another. I just dont like the twisting and spinning, and thread spoiling, its just not respectfull to over forum users who just want to read about what they want.
It does go both ways but as an example many in the blu section have made there choice, they want blu ray. they already know the profile situation, they already know theres region locking etc etc, so when guys jump in with blah blah blah for the 20th time in the 20th thread, it really does wind them up, they have made there choice they dont want to rehash the same thing over and over.

Thats why i post very little in the HDDVD section, i respect there choice, there is no reason for me to rehash the same talking points. I wish others would show that same level of respect, would make for a great Hidef area.
