Wow. So pretty much a non-musical Repo: The Genetic Opera.

Hollywood is out of ideas. It's official now.

Toss one more shrimp on the plate--What's worse is, I could've SEEN them putting Jude Law in Emilio's place, and throwing in Forrester just to look cool.

Default Another remake......shocking.

Jesus Christ! Does anybody write scripts anymore? Maybe the reason why most movies in the past 5 years have sucked is because over half of them are rehashed versions of movies already made. Some not even worthy of a remake. Come on Hollywood, put on your thinking caps and put out something original and exciting in 2010.

That may be going a bit overboard, but after what happened with "The Island"*, it's not a bad idea to check the pedigree on just about ANY one-sentence-concept action thriller pitched to a summer studio...

I'm not saying they may have SEEN "...Genetic Opera" (I'm guessing the producers aren't the type who go in for alternative rock) and thought they were doing the movie a "favor" by corporately remaking it...But like Michael Bay, the screenwriter may have also thought he was the only one for miles around who had seen it and thought he could get away with it.
Then again, he could just have thought he was cribbing it from "Monty Python's Meaning Of Life" and had never heard of the darn thing.
(Just like M. Night Shamalyan hadn't really ripped off a teen-novel author for "The Village", he'd just come up with the exact same idea on his own and done less with it.)

Either way, among screenwriters, action-movie concepts are more of a boys' boiler-room game to DELIBERATELY see who can come up with the Most on the Least, and some aren't afraid to cheat, intentionally or not.

---
(* - And no, The Island was not "sorta like Logan's Run"....It wasn't that director who sued Bay. Just ask one of the MST3K fans who tipped the director off.)

Yeah but that movie sucked and suffered from bad acting with it's crappy cast.

This is just doing the idea right.

I just saw the tv spot and I was like you know what? This movie can actually be a good time. It has potential to bomb but it could be cool and fun.

I have the hardest time watching Forrest Whitaker do anything, that one lazy eye just keeps me staring at it, I can't look away it's like a tractor beam, so I don't enjoy his performances ever....he should have fixed that thing in the 80s.

I also have a hard time looking at him. He is a good actor to be sure but I can't help being taken out of the movie when he is on screen. Looking forward to the movie anyway; I like Jude Law and Liev Schreiber.

Personally if the guy just wore sunglasses or even an eye patch I'd be fine, wouldn't even notice if he looked like Sammy Davis Jr, or a pirate all the time.

Maybe him getting his droopy eye fixed will be part of a subplot for the movie.

I think it's beyond repairable but he's one of the finest actors working today.

His performance in that movie is one of the best performances I've seen by an actor. I think after that movie came out, it was basically sealed that he would win. And he gave one of the best winning speeches too. DDL was a good follow up and then we got a bland speech from Penn (I rather have Del Toro in 2008) and this year it'll be Jeff Bridges about his pot smoking experiences.

Repo! was purposely campy. This, on the other hand, almost looks like the filmmakers are taking it seriously. No thanks.
Yeah but Repo! suffered from a lot of things like acting and Paris Hilton. The music wasn't even that good.

This film seems more Equilibrium to me and it's got an over the top feel. Forest Whitaker and Jude Law are fine actors, but they could totally bomb if they don't add any depth into the characters or story. Jude Law goes good and starts killing people that work for the company and even his best friend? I'd like to see some more depth.

I'm kind of excited for it. I really like the two leads so that's about it.
