Default Doctor Who

Any chance of Doctor Who coming to blu-ray sometime soon? I'm a big fan of the original series, and thankfully the new series is getting a bit better.

I know it would probably be a while before it's released in the US, but what about in the UK?

Probably not for a while. The only thing to gain would be the number of discs it would take, probably fit an entire series on one Blu-ray since it's only SD.

I hope the BBC's HD releases of Bleak House and Planet Earth sell well at the end of this month. Maybe then we'll get a HD release of Torchwood before the end of the year

QFT. "Doctor Who" is filmed with 576p cameras (similar to most of "28 Days Later"), although "Torchwood" is in HD via BBCHD in the UK and HDNet in the US. Perhaps Series 4 will be in HD, but I wouldn't hold my breath, as the show is already pretty expensive.

Virtually all of Doctor Who has been shot SD, some of the very earliest episodes were shot 16mm

(Uh, think they mean the new widescreen series--which only can get better now that they kicked out Billie Piper--which's been airing on Sci-Fi HD in the states?)

They know the OP is referring to the current series.

I have Sci-Fi HD and can assure you that even though the last Season Finale was aired on Sci-Fi HD, it was SD only as there is no HD version to air.

I am hoping that they release "Torchwood" on Blu-ray though.

Heck, I'd even like to have the "Robin Hood" series they're about to release on Blu-ray in the UK...
