Default I'm really sorry to do this but....

All this rant and worry about transformers on HDDVD....don't you know that we (BD) have the ace in the hole that will kill all sales that transformers will do... "SPIDERMAN"..... as good of a movie that Transformers is, it will not, I repeat, it will not make an impact like SPIDERMAN will!!

The Spiderman trilogy sold out across Dublin this weekend, I was very lucky to get it last night!

It's being advertised in the press and on the radio. I don't know about the US but Spiderman will really clean up in Europe.

I even had my father-in-law asking me about how much blu-ray players cost after seeing the ad's in the paper.

I loved Transformers and would buy it Blu Ray if possible.
Spiderman caught my eye with Spiderman 2. I did not enjoy part 1 and my hopes were squashed with part 3. However, I am still buying the BD set.

Go Blu!!!!

Although I liked Transformers much better than Spiderman, it doesn't matter. Facts are Spiderman is going to outsell Transformers 2:1 (at least). Heck HD groups should be thankful that the numbers won't include the packaged Spiderman 3 in the new PS3 sku. It could be 30:1 then.

As big as Transformers is.....when Spiderman 3 comes out (like the movie or not) it's going to absolutely destroy Transformers. The amount of money they are going to make off releasing that 3 pk (1-3) will probably set records. In the end that's all that counts in this little war. Hopefully when stuidos see this they start to understand you can either go with Blu-ray or let a war linger and kill the format. There is no way Blu-ray is going away though.

We are all aware of the quality that Spider-man is. We are also aware that Transformers is underperforming. There really is not that much worry.

I already pre-ordered the Spidey Trilogy for my wife for her Christmas present (she's a HUGE spidey fan), so I am already set on that. As for transformers, although I liked the movie, I think I can live with the SD DVD for now, at least until it is available on BD in a year or so. On the other hand, I know that I have the Universal HD channel and I am sure I can get Paramount films on HD channels as well, I'll just wait till it is out on cable and watch it in HD there!

Not too many Spider-man fanboys here, I see. I will get the trilogy, and it will sit on the shelf next to the Transformers DVD my brother is buying for me for Christmas. Well, not touching each other if I can help it.

Want a nice 3 disc trilogy - buy Planet Earth.

Sales of Pirates 3 (Blu-ray) will blow away sales of Transformers (HD DVD) by over 2:1

Low MSRP, day and date, biggest movie of the year worldwide, larger player base, Christmas release.....

I think Pirates 3 will clear well over 250,000 in its first week and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's moved over 500,000 copies by the end of the year, over 250,000 copies more sold than there are HD DVD standalone players.

especially when transformer did not follow the original animation vehicles, almost all the characters' cars were change to the sponsered vehicle (ford, chevolet, ...).

My trouble with them was mostly how they were too complex to look at. The original Transformers transformed and were easily recognized. These guys have so much detail you don't know what to look at next. You almost can't make them out except to see they are giant "car-bots". Anyone know what I mean?

My gf loved transformers, shes buying it on DVD no matter what I say.

As a huge fan of Gen1 (and ONLY gen1) transformers, I was torn. Sure some of the fight scenes were cool, but the entire story, not to mention the "new look" of the characters, gave it an entirely butchered and bastardized feel to me. SO I dont care thats it not on BD.

Spidey will kill transformers, just for the sheer fact that there is a way bigger market for it (PS3 demographic is a big help)

Transformers was waaay better. I love the Spidey comics, but Tobey and Kirsten might be the two worst actors EVER. Those movies were so bad that I won't be buying them on Blu, those are purely Netflix material. That being said, Transformers was cheesy too, but it was well done and with far better acting. I won't be buying that either but only because I'm currently hating Paramount

Well, I think since they were making a live action film they had to make them somewhat complex because the transformation had to be mechanically possible and believable.

The fact that they made a static car transform to a talking walking robot that was believable is a marvel of modern animation.

I'm a huge fan of the G1 cartoon as well. I can see why they chose the cars they did though. These days its all about money. Also it should be noted that its not like they didn't try. VW did not want any of their products being associated with any kind of violence. Big marketing oversight if you as me, it would have sold allot more bugs to guys no less.

I would love to see this in HD, I admit, it is worth it since it has excellent graphics, but it is not the biggest blockbuster out. Yes it was good, silly at times, and fairly true to the idea of the original tv show (with changes like the car types). I know that you can not always see or understand what the details in the robots are, it is kinda weird to just see a bunch of parts and have no idea what they are suppose to be for or what they even are, but I could care less. Seeing those details in HD would make it that much more interesting.

Default HD is fighting a losing battle.

People fell for this whole this vs that in the past with beta vs vhs but this time the quality has made itself known.
Blu Ray is better than HD and HD knows it, which is why they are so desperately trying to get someone to throw them a life raft.

Paramount has already shown the public that it can be the selective moron when it comes to public decision making so let them back the losing team in the hopes it makes them seem more powerful than they like to believe themelves being.

I now have more of a reason to back and stick with Blu Ray.

Thanks Paramount for stepping deeper in it... I hope you get what is coming to you!
