USA The Great United States Steel Rush

Oh now the day has come and the one and First New Release Blu-ray SteelBook™ and its a G1 SteelBook Oh the Travesty .

Anyways I wanted to get our voice heard on this and a chance to voice our bitter and harsh feelings against this practice. Its like putting a Cadillac emblem on a Pontiac and calling it a Cadillac...

A Blu-ray SteelBook should be just that, A Blu-ray Sized case with the best possible viewing experience enclosed. If the studios and retailers cant get this right, why release it? I would rather buy an iron pack than buy a DVD sized steelbook.

Oh After reading the Best Buy Thread for The Hurt Locker SteelBook , I know there are some harsh feelings against this nonesense.Whats next, Blu-rays in HDDVD cases because they were cheaper.....Give me a break!!

Argh, I wish I had the Iron Man. Ah well, I'll be sure to pick up the sweet, sweet sequel.

I didn't know FutureShop released a DVD Dark Knight along with the Blu-Ray... it kind of makes me nauseous, like when I see that the Indy 4 and I Am Legend DVD steels are still in stock in Downtown Toronto.

I think a DVD Steelbook of The Dark Knight was released in Canada. In fact, I think I've seen one not too long ago in a Futureshop. Not too sure about Iron Man, but I've also seen I Am Legend.

I can't imagine anyone voting in favor of it... Although I own some DVD SteelBooks, and Xbox360 SteelBooks which are DVD sized, I will not buy them...

i actually dont mind the size.. for myself i like buying steels if their artwork is different (and better looking than the blus) ie) TDK German MM Steelbook compared to the FS one. and the movie has to be one of my favs, otherwise i wont spend that kind of money as im not an avid steel collector. just a few here and there when theres a good deal to be had

I didn't understand why the blu-ray boxes had to be in a different size to begin with. My collection began to look really messy with all those different sized boxes.
Altough I prefer the size of the bluray boxes, I have to vote in favour of the poll purely because the DVD-size was there first.

(if all DVD's I have bought were rereleased in bluray-cases, I would probably buy them again, but I doubt wether that would happen )

Talking "Size Matters"

i prefer uniformity, but the size of the steelbook wouldn't keep me from buying it for my son. he doesn't care and neither do i.

i see films upon release and seldom have a desire to watch something again. i love film and look forward to quality, entertaining, interesting, original, new releases. there's nothing like the theater experience, in your favorite theater, with some good popcorn and a drink. my favorite theater is the Esquire.

i rarely buy dvds for myself, i buy them for my son.

one of his favorites is the FS Iron Pak (gulp) Terminator Salvation. he likes the cover art the best, as do i, and he said the casing and disc holder were better made.

collectors and others want a particular, uniform, item, not something bastardized.

And who's the troll that doesn't know how to bring up the names of the members who voted?

What they are doing is stupid; though if i owned the business, i can see their rationale from a cost perspective.. but alas i am the customer in this case and i will not support this.

What i am confused about here though and not understanding is the pricing for all this though. Amaray and DVD size SB are both the same price from what i see for "The Hurt Locker" for example. Are they saying that both costs the same to produce for the case? Unless the DVD SB cases can be made cheaper for the amaray, BB is technically taking a profit loss offering these and at the same time not satisfying the collector base.

SBs are primarily for collectors and obviously any collector would do their research before buying the collectible product. Did they really think this kind of stunt will work? And at what cost too? People that were thinking of buying this are now cancelling their pre-order and deciding to rent it instead if they really wanted to watch it. Others that are buying it for the case are also not buying it now. Whats worse.. losing a potential sale of the product itself or making less profit? I think they know the answer but they are just going around a stupid way to prove it.. my 2 cents.
