I bought the US version of transformers and the Uk box set of Spiderman, region coding really deflates the UK sales figures, however it does inflate the US figures. So I guess you would need to average them to get a true figure. However for that you would need actual sales figures and not ratios.

Hi. Another AVF poster here!

One of the things I've found quite amusing recently is the number of prominant HD DVD supporters on AVF who've just gone out and bought a PS3 following the price cut.

And there was me thinking the PS3 was just for games. Nobody would be interested in using one for hi def movies, right?

Oh well. Perhaps they'll chill out a bit now that they've taken their first steps in the right direction.

Nice to be able to speak your mind over here without fear of being censored or banned.
The mods on AVForums are biased, less so than they used to be, but how they can allow that HD-DVD troll Pecker to get away with what he does.. the guy is a tosser. At least his name is apt.

This forum is not only less abusive (I've got over my abuse with the above) but a far better source of information. Do you get insiders over on AVForums? no, somehow I doubt that will ever happen.

Hi Guys,

This seems like home from home.

Since I was the mod who got the HD players forum set-up in the first place, I feel a certain affinity and consequenly frustration with what's going on there. It the time, it seemed only natural that people would want to discuss the format war in an AV forum, even though it was hard work keeping things in order.

The ban on format warring has made it a no-go zone, and seems to defeat part of it's raison d'etre. There are so many threads closed at the first mention of formats, and I think the moderating now seems to be just terminating, rather than moderating. That's just lazy.

AVF used to be a very informative and entertaining place, but I've been driven to AVS and here instead. I never used to hang around single-make or single-format sites, but i do these days.

And yes - long may this place remain a Pecker-free site. Aaaarrrhhh!

Nick

Another AVF member since 07/02 , still use AVF to check out PS3 stuff. I ignore the crap put out and try not to get drawn down to their level.

This place is new to me so still getting a feel for the place.

That's key, 'format war' discussions are often very informative, not just back and forth banter.

Disappointing to see you here Nick, the main protagonists in this thread are here because they are unable to post without trolling and hence have to be banned from non-single-format threads/forums. But I never put you in that category.

Umm, ok so you know why he's here better than he does?

I wasn't aware of any of these people being Trolls. Pecker, however, is 100% troll yet he hasn't been banned for it. Probably because the mods at AVforums don't understand the meaning of the term troll. A troll is someone who asks a controversial or contrarian question knowing that that it will start an argument.
Pecker does in various forms such as condescending or insulting Blu-ray owners with FUD comments and refrences to their immaturity.

BTW, You first post is a Troll as you have just insulted everyone here with a lie.

Just a concidence they're all Blu-ray owners?

We all know the usual suspects on the HD-DVD side, which is why so many Blu-ray owners feel a need to respond to counter the FUD.

Well this is a Blu-ray board so I'd be surprised if any HD-DVD fans would bother with it. I'm a dual owner and only registered because I saw Nick post

It's not "so many" though is it? You were only banned because you were on your third username. So even with you and BadAss banned there's still plenty of Blu-ray discussion; it's just sane and non-trolling now.

BTW all those criticising the modding on AV Forums "last year when HD DVD was winning" are attacking Nick as he was the mod then

Its not sane, it now mainly a BD slagging forum. I've just read a post by a Halo, xbox fanboy complaining about the cost of the PS3 being reduced ... in the Blu-ray forum.

I'm sure he'll be countered then I don't read the games bits on AVF.

P.S. If sure you'd all be welcomed back on the forum if only you could all behave and be civil.

Cheers for that comment Dustin! And may I return the compliment to your good self.

Unfortunately I'm busy at work and don't really have as much time to post here (or anywhere) at the moment. Hopefully I'll be back soon to support the frontline!

It's great to see there are many out there willing to fight the nonsense posted by the HD DVD pushers and who recognise that if we are to see a thriving HD disc market with the sort of catalogue that Laserdisc owners used to enjoy, then only one format can prevail.

It's a bloody shame that P/DW have torpedoed the chance of an early end to the format war, but I'm confident that Blu-ray sales will grow so quickly over the next 3 months that those studios staying out of Blu-ray will look like fools - well, even more like fools.

Yes, banned for forgetting a 4 year old username and consolodating my online log in's to JAGUAR1977 to make things easier, great, no names overlapped with multi-posting.

My post history shows I was a decent, contributing member, not only on the HD forum, but others.

You only need look at AVF from the last few months, 90% of threads that could be considered format war related either bashed Blu-ray, i.e. BD+ (going beyond facts, with doomsday predictions) or whenever HD-DVD had some favourable news, cue digs at Blu-ray once again.

It's nothing to take to heart, but if a Blu-ray owner responded they were immediatly reported or considered a troll!

HighDefFan, as we're big enough to keep our AVF screen names so who exactly are you on AVF? Ive checked and no HighDefFan member exists.

I think it's quite revealing how people sign up to Blu-ray.com when their sole purpose/motivation is to question other BD supporters and not for Blu-ray at all! If thats not the true sign of a troll i don't know what is.
