And, yes, it is out of the question that Richt would be fired for one bad year. It won't happen. He'd get another year to straighten it out. If that didn't work, then there'd be a change.

I personally wouldn't mind him staying there forever, even if UGA has a few 1-win seasons. He's a classy person (the Florida moshpit celebration notwithstanding). I'd rather have him than a hundred Meyers, Sabans, Spurriers, Leaches, etc.
I know you know a lot more about Georgia football than me and I hear a lot of national rumblings about Richt's job security but I've heard he's well liked by the school's fan base and alumni and isn't in jeopardy. I just wonder if at some point the fan base will get tired of 10-3 type seasons in which they are never in national title contention and are constantly overshadowed by Alabama and Florida.

I wouldn't take him over 100 meyers or sabans, but I really do like him aswell and I feel like if they stand by him even through a few bad seasons or average seasons like 10-3 then at some point he will deliver. I just don't think they've taken injuries and some other mishaps into account. I think with a fully healthy team UGA is as close to anyone else in terms of being a power football team.

They're not constantly overshadowed by Alabama. That's just been since last year. Florida's another story, but that was a problem long before Richt. But, since he's been there, Georgia's 2-6.

In any event, the entire country has been overshadowed by Alabama or Florida the last 3-5 years.

It's silly that fans can grow tired of 10-3 seasons, isn't it? This year is the first year in a decade or so that Georgia hasn't finished in the top 25 (certainly the first year in Richt's era). Usually they're a top 15 team.

So true. Last year they were preseason #1 then lost 25 (you heard me right) players to season-ending injuries. That includes the O-line getting absolutely decimated. So naturally Stafford and Moreno werne't AS GOOD as they could have been. Still had good seasons.

This year the team lost 95% of it's offense to the draft in only 3 players, and the defense was miserable.

Those things happen, but they're surmountable.

Sad that being a consistent top-15 team isn't good enough for some people. Would I love a championship? Sure! But if I wanted consistent championships I should cheer for USC, Texas, or Oklahoma. Fortunately I don't.

Agree again, if UGA just has a little faith in him as much of a class act as Richt is I think it'll pay off and I hope so eventually. They just need some new strength and conditioning coaches to stop from getting so many injuries lol.

Maybe I'm mis-remembering but didnt Moreno get hurt as-well and didn't stafford have an arm injury or something on top of that?

No I think they were both healthy the whole season, along with Mohamed Massoquai. It was mostly O-line, D-line, LBs, and DBs that got the injury bug.

To think what Moreno could've done in 4 years versus 2. He could have been something great. I would have at least loved 1 more year with he and Stafford. But 'twas not to be.

I guess I'd just like to have a class-act "good" coach than a morally questionable "great" one. I don't want to sell my soul for a championship. Maybe some UGA fans are different.

OU winning a championship? DO you mean national? That's laughable. OU hasn't been a good team in years. USC is going down a slippery slope. Texas, however, will be dangerous next year. That backup QB got some of the best experience a QB can get.

But I have faith in my Bulldawgs. We'll get us a Championship, altho I dont think it'll be 2010-2011, with Bama getting most of their players back. But maybe 2011-2012.

I dont see why not, UF will have 9-3 type season next year, Bama will still be beast though. I think UF's days are over, I REALLY feel Meyer is done coaching and this whole gimmick is to try and save face for recruiting.

I think Meyer will be back in time for next season, but he will give away some of his responsibilities to his assistants. Urban Meyer's days of micromanaging every last detail are over, how much this will affect the win column at Florida will be interesting to see. I do think that Brantley will do a very good job for them at QB, he'll do much better than a lot of people are expecting. He really throws the ball down the field well.

Its going to be interesting to see because Meyer was supposed to install more of a pro-style offense with Brantley and run less spread. The defense is going to be young with all of their junior's leaving early for the league. With all the being said, UF could very easily pick up where they left off and still dominate...that is until they come to the Doak the last weekend of November
