That will not happen. Every 3-D player will be backward compatible. The manufacturers and studios know there would be a revolt by the users if they did any move like that. The introduction of 3-D is mostly about increasing the demand for future equipment upgrades, but it will be mostly incremental in degree. View it as a cool but unnecessary feature that future players will come equipped with as a selling point.
