Imagine it being very similar to my "A Nightmare on Elm Street" Blu-ray, with maybe a couple marks less. I'd give this at least a 3/5 for video, which signifies a solid upgrade over the DVD. The dark scenes (e.g., on the rooftop before going to mars or the reactor) allowed you to see much more due to the higher contrast of the movie. It's definitely worth watching and owning in this format.
Audio:
The audio is absolutely a step up from the DVD. The audio uses a DTS-HD track, that typically varied around 2.5 Mbp/s. I was completely shocked during several action scenes that consisted of a lot of explosions, etc. It was very crisp, and the depth of the sonic range just seemed limitless. During such scenes, my system was going for a complete workout, leaving us just blown the hell away. The only problem with the audio, is the surrounds are often left out in a cold barren for the most part. However, this is probably how it was intended to be mixed. I really felt like this was the first time I was listening to the movie as well. I was able to hear every nuance of the musical score (It was the first time where I actually noticed that the music score played throughout most of the movie) and I just felt more emotionally involved. The DVD produced a very flat sound field, and didn't add much depth at all to the listening experience. I would place the audio at around 3.5, and possibly even more of the surrounds were used more. The effects didn't seem too dated either, but it's certainly not going to sound like a brand new movie though. I was throughly impressed.
