Monster House is a really good movie, you should make a point of watching it. It's a good addition to a collection.

I have to say that this is a concept that confuse me a lot and while only about 20 peoples have posted so far it's something I've seen often and by many members on this site.

I can understand liking or disliking diffrent movies, TV, projectors....all of this is on opinion and personal taste. So I understand how everyone will be different.

What I was never able to understand is why would you purchase a movie and not watch it for months if not years? I can get a week or a few weeks, even maybe a month. Time is pressing and we each have other responsabilites (family, children, work..) but months and years?? I truly don'tget that.

I happen to buy quite a bit when i see a good sale and i just get so backlogged that it is hard to catch up. I hate to turn down a sale of a movie i want because when i am ready to see it i may have to pay more.

I guess it depends on if it's something you've never seen before...

Like I plan on replacing all of my DVDs (which Ive seen) with BDs (I'm new to BD) so I have a better version, but I may not watch a particular film for a long time (though I probably will wanna revisit many). However I wouldn't buy a film I hadn't ever seen and not watch it for years, I don't think.

The main thing I don't get is keeping the ones you haven't seen in shrink wrapping whilst its on the shelf.

I have maybe 20 I haven't watched yet for various reasons. I'm not going to pass up a good price on a movie I want just because it will be a while before I get to it. Currently what's holding me back from watching a lot of those is that I'm re-watching all 5 seasons of Lost to get ready for season six.

I have been guilty of mass-buying in one fell swoop....so much so that I will buy a greater quantity then I could reasonably watch in a normal time frame and tend to need to prioritize. Which means that disk that I added "to get free shipping" or "it was ONLY $10!" gets shuffled to the bottom of the stack and, well, sometimes the stack just grows larger.
Sometimes that horror film that I was in the mood for when I bought it, I'm just not in the mood for when I have a free evening.

V for Vendetta. I bought it from Best Buy early 2009 because it was on sale for $9.99. Still haven't watched it. It's not like I've never seen it before, I've just not watched the Blu-ray.

The "Mega Thread" reminded me, that I bought "The Dark Knight" probably a few weeks after it came out...... maybe a month..... either way, I still haven't watched it...... I think I got it from the trade-forum.... or Half.com.... heck, I can't even remember where I got it!

It started a big "comic-book movie" buying spree, and I ended up getting The Watchmen, Transformers, Iron man, and the first Hellboy......

And out of those, I have yet to watch Iron-Man, but watched the others at least once.....

EDIT: got Batman Begins during that "Spree" too

I did see The Dark Knight, and Iron Man via Netflix, so it's not like I haven't seen them, but I've only seen each one once.... despite the fact that I kept telling myself that I need to give TDK another chance....... (not that it was bad)

I have a buddy who has had a copy of "Silence of the Lambs" on DVD for over 6 years it's still sealed. He has never seen it and his uncle bought it for him as a gift. He admits he wants to watch it and knows it's a good movie, but he won't take the time to watch it. He would rather watch episodes of Parking Wars and Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Every time me or his uncle come over to visit we give him crap about it. My thoughts are he will never watch now just to spite us. I don't think his uncle has given him another gift since.

Unhappy

Every Bluray I own except for District 9 and parts of Planet Earth. so far, not much free time. In fact, I haven't seen (in theaters either) the hollywood movies I have.

Side note, I also probably have 5-10 DVDs I have not seen, almost all not seen in theaters either...some still wrapped, wonder if I should TRY to return/exchange for Bluray.

AND the big kicker to all this.......

TITANIC on VHS (2-tape pack). Still Sealed!! have never seen the movie at all. Want to but don't have a VCR attached to a TV anymore.
