Just watched this film for the first time.......................and wow what a powerful film! I never knew about this story or that it took place. Angelina was excellent in the starring role. The whole cast was excellent at that. U had the characters u grew to hate and the characters u rooted for. What a deep unfortunate story that took place. This is another great film under Clint's belt! I didnt know the film would be this good. Thoughts on this film? Got Em!!

I was also very surprised at how much I liked this film. My fiance rented it and I just sat down to relax but it really pulled me in. I don't know what type of critical praise or lack of it received but I.M.O. Angelina Jolie's best performance to date. I don't really watch her stuff though. B.T.W. "The Changeling" with George C. Scott was EXCELLENT. Saw in junior high and scared the hell out of me. If you get a chance I think it's worth a view.

I had read a book about the Chicken Coup murders back in high school, and didn't realize what the Changling was about until the showed the coup. Than I solved the movie, lol.

I'm not sure why, but I haven't really been too impressed with several of Clint Eastwood's movies (those he starred in or directed). I recognize him as one of the best in his field, but I simply admire him more than I actually like his work. This is one of the few exceptions...astonishing movie that left me thinking about it for days. Some people criticized Jolie of being too over the top, but I think she nailed the role of a mother in desperation perfectly. Great cast, compelling movie. Job well done.

Hmm the only movie he's directed I wouldn't add to my collection is Invictus. Not that it was a bad movie, it's just not something I'd care enough about to watch more than once. So you didn't like Mystic River, Unforgiven or Gran Torino??

Eastwood's best film, IMO. My only disappointment is that it wasn't successful enough to earn it's video release a more comprehensive supplemental package. Still, it's totally worth a blind buy for fans of Eastwood, suspense...or stories that blow your mind because you can't believe they're true.

Yes, Changeling is an excellent movie. Performances were right on, sets were very realistic from a standpoint of representing the era, and thus being a true story, the storyline was kept very accurate IMO.

I think Changeling is just one of those films that should be in everyone's library. At the least, should be rented.

Fairly accurate yes except that while the film depicts all the major figures in the case, it does leave out Gordon Northcott's mother, Sarah Louise Northcott, who committed the crimes with Gordon, and was convicted for killing Walter. In the film, there is a reference to a boy who came forward several years later after the execution of Gordon Northcott and confessed to escaping from the chicken-coops and that Walter Collins may have also escaped. There has never been any substantiating evidence put forward that an escape scene ever occurred to support this notion presented in the film.

Great film. Jolie should have won best actress--she was better in this film than Winslet in The Reader and better than the others nominated.

Great film. I couldn't imagine growing up in LA during those times. So corrupt. The LAPD will always have to bear a cross of corruption on it's shoulders.

Yea I agree she nailed this role! I dont know how they thought she was over the top. In this situation what would u expect a loving mom to do. Got Em!!

She was nominated for an Academy Award last year for her performance in this movie.

I have to agree...this is an excellent movie in all aspect.I really like how they caught the actual look of old Chicago.

Yea I hear that from some people but I cant do B&W. I much prefer color actually. But I can see what u mean for this peticular film as the setting is from 1928! Got Em!!

My wife and I really liked the Changeling also. But what first drew me to it was the fact that J. Michael Straczynski (of Babylon 5) wrote the script. Eastwood's direction and Jolie's performance made it outstanding.

I did not like the Mist in B&W. I LOVE the movie, but the B&W didnt work for me. It felt off because B&W is old school (which is awesome) but everything on screen was modern. Cell phones, modern cars and buildings and clothes etc...... looked weird in B&W.

good film, IMO it would have been better if it ended at the 90-100 min climax point

. beyond that, IMO the movie is just telling the audience what it can reasonably deduce, so it could have put the last 40-50 min in ending credits or just let the audience discuss/debate it
