Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials are the two I would recommend.

Just don't use any Microsoft software and you won't need anything like that.

I have a macbook and a linux based PC and haven't experienced any malware or virus problems.

I understand though there is a industry based around trying to get MS stuff working correctly.
