I'm sure it's been posted somewhere, but quite a few eBay sellers have some pretty awesome deals on cases of 5, 10, 20, etc. replacements (both Vortex and Viva). You can even find the old Viva's as well.

Mega Disc Super-Store has made some recent additions to their Blu-ray Disc case lineup:

http://www.megadiscstore.com/index.p...ex&cPath=34_38

I've always had problems with the sales presentations on their site, so here's a reprise of the text for an e-mail that I sent to them requesting clarification on exactly what kind of cases it is that they carry:
I've never been inclined to purchase Blu-ray Disc cases from you before, mainly because I've disliked your sales presentations so much in the past. For example, your single and double-disc BD cases are noted to be "VIVA Brand," but they are specified as having a thickness of 12mm and the product photos are of generic-brand cases. When I think of genuine single- and double-disc Viva Elite cases, I like to see the specification that they are 12.5mm thick, rather than have a retailer try to round the thickness down.

Anyway, I see that you are now carrying what is purported to be a 12.5mm triple-disc Viva Elite BD case, that while using the correct product photo, has again had its thickness rounded down to 12mm for some apparent reason.

I also see that you've got the most convoluted sales presentation ever for a four-disc 15mm Viva Elite case. The product photo has hubs for five discs (one on the booklet-side of the case; a double-sided swing tray; a single-sided swing tray; and a disc hub on the disc tray-side of the case). In the meantime, the item description notes that all of the disc hubs are on two double-sided swing trays, while inexplicably, there are absolutely NO hubs on either the booklet- or disc tray-side of the case. I know that a genuine four-disc 15mm Viva Elite BD case should have a disc hub on the booklet- and disc tray-side of the case with snap hinges molded to the inside of the spine that can accept a single double-sided swing tray. A five- or six-disc 15mm Viva Elite has slightly larger snap hinges to accept an assembly of two double-sided swing trays inserted into adapters.

So, in conclusion, could you please clarify for me exactly what kind of Blu-ray Disc cases it is that you are carrying? I've been looking for a long time to find a source for genuine 12.5mm double-disc Viva Elites, and I would also probably be interested in picking up some of the 12.5mm triple-disc Elites as well. Thanks for your time and consideration.

And here's the reply that I received:
Dear Customer,
The Blu-Ray case that we carry are 100% genuine Viva Elite cases except the double one regardless of the thickness

The 15mm 4 disc case have no disc hub on inner both side of the case as the product description on our web, the disc only be mount one both side of 2 swing tray
Should you have any questions or need further help, please contact us.

Thank you for your inquiries

Ken

I guess that one of the problems with retailers carrying genuine Viva Elite Blu-ray Disc cases is that the designs haven't been locked down like those for the competing MeadWestvaco/AGI Polymatrix
Vortex
cases. Rather, Viva Elites continue to evolve over time. The previous generation of 15mm Viva Elites, with two different sets of hinges molded onto the inside of the spine, used in the U.S. market were as follows:
4-Disc: 1 hub on booklet-side of the case + 2 hubs on a single double-sided swing tray + 1 hub on disc tray-side of the case;

5-Disc: 4 hubs on two double-sided swing trays + 1 hub on disc tray-side of the case;

6-Disc: 1 hub on booklet-side of the case + 4 hubs on two double-sided swing trays + 1 hub on disc tray-side of the case

The current generation of 15mm Viva Elites appear to use a single set of snap hinges designed only to accept an assembly created by inserting two sets of double-sided swing trays into adapters. Thus:
4-Disc: 4 hubs on two double-sided swing trays;

5-Disc: 4 hubs on two double-sided swing trays + 1 hub on disc tray-side of the case;

6-Disc: 1 hub on the booklet-side of the case + 4 hubs on two double-sided swing trays + 1 hub on disc tray-side of the case

In summary, according to their Customer Service, Mega Disc Super-Store should be carrying the following now:
12.5mm Single-Disc Viva Elite;
12.5mm Double-Disc Generic Elite-type;
12.5mm Triple-Disc Viva Elite;
15mm Four-Disc Viva Elite (latest generation)

EDIT: The 15mm Four-Disc Viva Elite, with disc hubs ONLY on the double-sided swing trays, available from Mega Disc Super-Store was used on Smallville: The Complete Eighth Season.

Anyone know where you can get the old Viva Elite cases (with the screen-printed logo). I know they suck, and I prefer the new ones, but a few wouldn't hurt.

Of course they don't carry the authentic version of the ONE kind I actually need and still can't find to buy anywhere.....

I got some multi-disc cases on ebay - free shipping too. They had all sizes up to 6 disc.

They also have a 5 disc version and they also have some BD cases listed, but the one's I found state they are 14mm, so, unless that is a typo, they aren't standard BD cases. I would have explored further, but the site wasn't the most screen reader friendly, accessible but a tedious pain to navigate and find things. Anyway, here is the link to the 6 disc cases:

PCX - DVD Case 6 Disc clear (14mm) *Premium Grade* - pcx.com.au

Thanks,
Chris
These are the OneTime (brand name) cases that many are looking for that both Farscape and X-Files slim come in. However, like this resource you posted, many are located in Australia (Brackley is another) and for US or even Europeans the shipping would be too high. Also PCX only sells 100 pieces in a minimum order.

These cases are created by same company that creates the Blu-Ray cases for studios:
Viva Elite

Considering that a Canadian distributor has been discovered that now sells the Viva Elite Blu-Ray cases to US, then maybe its possible we can contact them to begin carry these 6-disc slim (14mm) DVD cases as well since they must come from same distributor. This Canadian distributor currently only carries the wider 22mm 6-disc DVD case.

I have located a US resource for these cases. However, they differ slightly and I have not personally ordered and seen one. If someone has then please comment here.

14mm 6-disc DVD cases from Vernon Library Supplies

There is no minimum order, you do not have to be a library, and the shipping is very reasonable. For a pack of 25, it estimated shipping to me in Chicago, IL as $5.

However, these cases unlike the Farscape ones have no insert tabs and have a secure disc locking mechanism that shows a very small green and red tab that indicates if locked.

I assume the cases are sold unlocked. But this would need to be verified. And someone would need to verify that they could not easily be locked by accident. Because if they do get locked it requires using a decoupler device to unlock and Vernon sells that device only to libraries.

If someone purchases these please comment here. As mentioned in this thread as well, Vernon also carries multi-disc Vortex Blu-ray cases.

The Vortex blu-ray cases are not locked and do not appear to have any tabs or slots for locking. I can't see any way for them to become "accidently" locked either. They just aren't designed for it.

Vernon has a separate line of security products listed as "secure cases" but those are different from "replacement case" which people on this thread are interested in.

Correct, if you read my post again, you will see I am talking about the One-Time secure cases for DVD, not Blu-Ray. The 14mm 6-Disc DVD case is also one that many have been searching for. Alot of us have older TV shows on DVD and are also looking for slim replacements for these. Since it was commented on here in this thread, I thought I would mention that Elite the same maker of the Blu-Ray cases, also makes this 14mm 6-disc DVD case and that Vernon does carry it along with the Vortex Blu-Ray cases.

This didn't really warrant its own thread so I figured I'd just shove it in here.

Got my copy of Baraka from Amazon, and it's a weird little slim slipcase thingymajig. I was looking at Best Buy afterwards and noticed that they had that version, but they also had the movie in a standard blu-ray case. I got a bit jealous and almost wish I just had the regular one, since this one doesn't match any of my other cases.

What do you guys think on the Baraka case tip? Any preference?

Return it and buy it from Best Buy

When I ordered Baraka from Amazon I got the standard blu-ray case version...I think it just varies by order.

I'd return it to Amazon and buy the normal-sized one from BB. Personally, I don't mind if one or two cases are different from the others, but for Baraka specifically, I hate that smaller case.

It's thirty bucks at Best Buy though, and I think I paid like sixteen from Amazon.

I kinda doubt they'll do it, but maybe I'll see if Best Buy will let me swap without a receipt.

I also just ound a seller with good ratings on Amazon carrying the slim 3 through 6 disc DVD cases. Again haven't ordered them yet, but it seems to be another viable source.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...9CFKC&v=glance
They also have vvarious BD cases like these:
http://www.amazon.com/Double-BLU-RAY...5057578&sr=1-5

From the description I can't tell which type these are, but people might want to check them out. Unfortunately, they only ship to the US, but if they are a good source, maybe people could work out group buys with people they know in the US. I just receall the previous post about not being able to find the Vortex 2-disc cases and since I can't tell which these are I thought I would post the link in case they are the Vortex type.

Those are not the same as the One-Time 6-disc slim, the difference is that these have overlapping discs, that is, requiring you to remove one disc to get to the one below. With the One-Time versions they are all separated.
