Smile Vote For Your Favorite Best Picture Nominee

Hey everyone!
As you know, the Oscar nominees were announced today. But which of the best picture nominees is your favourite, and you would therefore like to see win?

EDIT - Sorry, I put YOU'RE instead of YOUR in the title. I wasn't thinking....and I'm just a moron.

Up in the Air...why? Because it simply is the best picture. I have seen them all and although I would consider UP, Inglorious Basterds and The Hurt Locker as very strong contenders they are just not quite there for me but I would choose anyone of them over Avatar.

The list has grown demonstrably this year! It used to somewhere around 4 and 5 nominations for the year. Something smells here! Why so many this year?

I haven’t seen one of them yet! If I had to take wild guess I’d go for Avatar its bold and it might just take it for science fiction film and not many have done that.

They officially changed the number of nominations to 10, instead of 5. When the Oscars began there was many less films released each year, but now the Oscars have 'caught up' with the times and since there are so many films per year, they raised the nomination number.

Inglourious for me

I saw Mark Kermode on the BBC news talking about the fact why he thinks they have changed it to 10 films - he seems to think that they can now include more "box-office films" in the category. Hopefully encouraging more ppl to tune it to watch the ceremony , as the viewing figures have slumped recently.

It as gone down because more and more people think that the blockbusters should win Oscars in the higher categories and year after year they do not. I am not sure when this exactly started to happen but blockbusters don't mean amazing movies, they mean fun movies but fun does not mean great performances deserving an Oscar. Things got confuse somewhere in time.

yes but that goes against what these awards are for, is it celebrating the best performances, writings, movies or is it about who make's the most money? If that is the case, kill the Oscars and just have one statue done for the movie that is on top of the box office for the year and be done with it. No more pretense, no more debate.. all is good the clear winner is decided by money.

I agree with everything you have said. I guess we will have to see if Avatar wins to have an answer to your question.

Man, never have there been so many movies that I really liked in the running. (Of course the fact that there are twice as many nominees figures into that I guess, heh heh).

My vote is for Inglourious Basterds.
