You could be right about the "chain" theory...who would have thought we'd have a chain theory haha..anyone else have any thoughts? It could go either way but the smoke monster does sound like a chain when it it moving around so AeroK may have a good theory there.

All right...call me crazy but..

[Show spoiler] Richard Alpert was obviously a slave...on the Black Rock. Now why would he even have a name(or if anything, why a last name..why not just Richard..Like Jacob is just Jacob? How did he get the name Richard Alpert? Slaves didn't have rights or names. My thoughts are....Jacob and the MIB are enemies(we know this from the S.5 premier)...TBR shipwrecked on the island and RA was the only one who survived(or his life was spared). Jacob granted RA eternal life(or something to make him never age) probably in turn for taking his side against the MIB. The MIB found his loophole and killed Jacob and now has RA in his custody...

..These are my thoughts!

[Show spoiler]I believe the chains to refer to the black rock, and that they had slaves on board. Richard escaped (or was let out) and later moved on to the positions we have seen him in. I now believe the Island to be Purgatory, a place where evil people are judged and are forced to spend x amount of time to pay for their sins during life. This is why all of the people whom we know to have sinned appear alive on the Island after their death. Christen (Jack's father), Smokey (now in the fresh Locke suit), and most recently: Sayid. We have seen the smoke monster also judge before (Mr. Eko) whom we know to have committed many murders. Anyone? Thoughts?

And I really enjoyed the first two

Fantastic premiere. I'm curious to see where they're going with the conflicting timelines. I don't see them continuing that concept all season, so I expect it to be resolved by the middle of the season at the latest, like the time jumps last year.

Oh, and theory time. I'll mark it as a spoiler just in case, though it's complete speculation.

[Show spoiler]Sayid did indeed die. But the pond healed his body, which is now home to Jacob's spirit.

Again, just a guess.

its also odd seeing what happened after the bomb detonated alot of questions left there

are hurley, sayid, sawyer, kate, miles and jin the only people that made the leep

what happened to bernard and his wife that were also stuck in the 70's

did the dharma people all die also still

also are the fake locke and jacks team back on the same timeline cuz richard saw the firework thing

oh well overall a pretty good premiere

I just read on Wikipedia that they plan to combine them into one about a third of the way through the season. We'll see how true that it is when it happens, I suppose.

It seems as though EVERYONE BUT YOU have decided to use spoiler tags on anything important though. I was looking for a general feeling of how people have been enjoying the beginning of the new season. And, I've been able to build my anticipation from my expectations of this thread. You had to break that a little bit though.

Don't be selfish and think about others when posting in this thread. This isn't a live sporting event where everyone sees it at the same time regardless of time zone.

I hope the "alternate reality" doesn't actually represent what WILL happen. It leaves too many characters with unhappy endings:

[Show spoiler] Charlie goes to jail, Jin goes to jail, Kate is running from jail, Locke is paralyzed

. Maybe the writers can somehow bring the characters together with some positive resolution as the season goes on.

I am also not clear on MiB's mission.

[Show spoiler] Does he want to return "home" to the temple (maybe it was originally HIS temple, or is his home somewhere off island). It also appears that Jacob foresaw, or possibly even planned his 'death" as he was able to pass a note to his followers in the temple.

Good premier. Obviously more questions again. It's fun though seeing how it will turn out. I don't speculate too much as it becomes too work like.
