Here's my thinking:

1. Juliet is telling the truth and the other timeline is real.

2. The timeline on the island needs to be played out because they need to finish what Jacob and the other guy started.

The holes in my theory are big though because:

A. Why was Desmond on the plane?

B. Why did Jack's dad disappear?

Didn't Hurley say in a previoous episode that he was the luckiest man in thw world? or something to that measure?

I could be wrong but when I say that i swear I had seen that before. and I believe he said it to Sawyer also.

What I'm wondering is if he's the luckiest man in the world does that mean that the chicken place didn't get hit by a meteor and that his moms house didn't burn down?

I agree, they're others. Can't wait to find out about the relationships between Japanese guy and John Lennon (great references BTW!), and then Richard and Ben.

They are the Other right? Cause everyone was sent to the Temple after they abandoned Dharmaville.

I'm just wondering how many people are from Black Rock and how many were chosen from the plane and from Dharma.

I don't think anyone pre Black Rock is still on the island.

I think that Jacob was put on the island to keep the other man there. Now that he is dead, the man can leave, but probably not just yet. I am sure he has to find a way off the island. I think that Jack is going to have to take Jacob's place and stay to keep the man on the island.

The people in the Temple are the Others. A few seasons back, most of the Others retreated to the Temple and have been there ever since. I'd assume that the Asian man (did they name him?) is a priest of some kind and is in charge of the Temple. That would make him the highest ranking member there, and put him in charge when the leader (Ben, Widmore, Eloise, etc), Richard, or Jacob himself is not around.

As for calling the Others the "island's original inhabitants", I wouldn't read too much into it. As far as the story we're being told is concerned, the Others were there first, before Dharma and before 815. There's evidence that other cultures have lived there over the centuries, but they're not directly involved in what's happening now.

That stewardess was accepted by the others really early on in the series and that really needs to be explained.

Yeah, I think those people are apart of Ben's Others as I think he at one point told someone to have Richard hide everyone at the temple to be safe. I think its when he was going to the Orchid station.

Regarding Hurley's luck. Perhaps with the island under the ocean, Hurley never heard the numbers. He won the lottery regardless because it was his destiny or whatever. But without the "cursed" numbers, his luck hasn't turned rotten.

Jack had previously met Desmond before. Remember a past episode where Desmond was training to go on his sailing race and he was running up and down the stairs of a stadium. I can't recall the particulars of why Jack was there, but he was and he spoke with him breifly. I think he was only looking at Locke because he hadn't realized that Locke was paralized and was surprised by it. Remember, when Locke first got on the plane, the boarded him first to get him in his seat as it would be easier before everyone else got on. That is why no one on the island knew that he couldn't walk before.

Didn't we see the kids and Cindy in season 4 or 5 when Cindy was talking to Locke and said how excited everyone was that he was around?

Wouldn't that imply that indeed the people at the temple are the "others."

He heard the numbers from the guy in the mental institute. and he used those for the lottery and won and bad luck inhabited his life.

So do you think the Desmond that was on the plane was a Desmond fully aware of all the previous going ons?
