Default Settling the sig issue

I feel pretty confident in what's in my sig, but I just fielded this post from a "former" HD-DVD zealot, so take a look at both pics in my sig, take a look at this post, and let me know what needs to be changed so I don't have to keep seeing this kind of BS.

Quote:
Q that is the most misleading signature ever, total BS, I hope you didn't come up with that one?

I could make 10 examples of why, but here are a few:

1)Sony is Sony, one logo only please(maybe one extra for sony music), you show a pic of VAIO, Sony, Sony BMG, Sony Wonder, Sony epic, columbia, legacy, sony pictures and more

2)MGM catalog is part of Fox, MGM new releases are Sony I think, MGM is not separate

3)Thomson and RCA are one and the same

5)Geffen, Island, Mercury, Verve are Universal music

logos are left out of HD-DVD and Blu-ray is packed with total BS per the above and more

total BS, no facts involved

-Gary
I don't think any of us wants to accidentally be promoting hyperbole or less than honest information. I certainly don't, so in the interim, I've adjusted my sig slightly.

If nothing else, can someone hook me up with more accurate/fair pictures? Thanks!

I don't think it is all misleading.

MGM is certainly not Fox or Sony - that is just the distribution agreement.

The same can be pretty much said for all of the other stuff - these companies are subsidiaries of other bigger companies but each one has their catalogue of releases and are in the Bluray camp.

I think that the real issue lies in that you have something that is bad for HD DVD and therefore you are bad. You could cut it back to seven studios and six CE companies and you will still get criticised. It is the way of things.

why should you change anything? That is reality...and if HDDVD fanboys can't deal with reality, then maybe they need to snap out of it and snap up a BD player.

I got some help to at least refine the BD picture a little bit, but you all are exactly right:

The facts aren't to certain people's liking or advantage, so even if you consolidate the Sony stuff and what not, the bald facts staring you in the face can't be denied or ignored.

They can't handle it.

I do need to add that big boy Sanyo to the HD-DVD picture I have, but I don't have the skills to do it.

Oh - Sanyo are are actually going to do something with HD DVD?

I guess if they are on the side of HD DVD they should be listed...

Trying to be "fair and balanced."

At most, I could see a little bit of consolidation on some of the Sony brands, but Sony Electronics, Sony Music, and Sony Pictures really should be separated. They are completely distinct divisions.

Even the official Blu-Ray Disc Association has the three listed separately...

MGM definitely needs to be shown separately as well.

It's not just a matter of who the parent company is. If that where the case, with that logic you could just slap a Universal logo on there too since Universal Music is supporting Blu-Ray.

Since they're separate divisions, and Universal Pictures is not currently supporting Blu-Ray, to be accurate you can only show the music division and that's what your current picture does.

Heck, even if you just went with official BDA logo image, that's still one hell of an impressive line-up!

LOL! Too funny. Sanyo...what a joke. When I think of Sanyo, the first thing that comes to mind is the electronics section at Wal-Mart or K-mart. Not that there's anything wrong with that necessarily. I just find it humorous that it's even in the same category as a brand like Sony, Toshiba, etc. I'm not a huge fan of Toshiba, but to me, Sanyo is even a step below that.

I can't knock RCA too much, because that was my first DVD player back in 1997

Why not just use this one? It doesn't seem to have quite as much duplication as the original.

No matter what you do all you will end up with is a picture of misinformation.

How does one describe RCA being on HD DVD when Thomson owns them?

How do you explain HP and Apple being listed yet one has a HD DVD laptop and USB drive coming and the other has HD DVD support listed?

How does one explain Samsung not being listed in the HD DVD area when they have a HD DVD laptop?

Worry about this stuff is too much work for too little results IMO.

^^ That's all valid.

I just want to have a nice handy sig, but if I can't get it accurate enough, I'll move on to sumthin' else.
