3) You might not be a fan but how has Cameron not shown he can do multiple genres? and even if you assume he mostly sticks to what he knows, why would that be a bad thing.

Agree. Cameron definitely has range, as much so as Nolan, and does so on a much bigger scale.

But anyway, I've already said the poll was absurd.
Not sure I'd agree with this statement. Aliens pretty much created the space marine genre. And before Terminator and T2 there wasn't anything like it.

Cameron. Although Nolan is not far behind.

Bay is perhaps the worst director currently working.

Apparently you've never seen any Uwe Boll movies.

Cameron and Nolan are both excellent filmmakers, but I prefer Nolan's work more.

Cameron didn't direct piranha 2, but got stuck with the credit. My vote goes to Cameron by a land slide.

I feel that Cameron and Bay are pretty much apples/apples. Long on special effects, short on screenplay and character development.

Christopher Nolan may not be as prolific but I'd give him the nod just for making two cinematic masterpieces in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Fair enough, although I think neither are remotely cinematic masterpieces. Just my opinion.

Correct.

And from a recent Cameron interview:

Quote:
-Piranha 2: The Spawning. Cameron was hired to direct, flew to Rome, completed a couple of weeks of preproduction, flew to Jamaica and shot for 4 days before being replaced by the Italian producer, notorious for taking over his films. “It ended up being good for me because the film turned out to be a stinker.”

Now I have to wonder why he dose not have his name removed from it and changed to either 'alan smithee' or the Italian producer that actually directed it?

.

Yeah, but they're most assuredly pieces of something.

Wow... that's pretty harsh, even for someone from Krypton.

Bay should not be in this poll with these guys. IMO Cameron and Nolan are far superior to Bay.

Its hard to say which one I would choose. Nolan doesn't have as many films under his belt as Cameron so for me its hard to say. But I do love Nolan's directing style and the work he has done is really good.

But I have to go with Cameron right now. So many great films under him and he's still going strong. To me Titanic is just perfect.

Cameron has made 2 TERMINATOR films, TRUE LIES, TITANIC, ALIENS, and AVATAR-- an amazing list

Nolan did the 2 BATMAN films-- which were great--

Cameron wins--
