Default Any difference in the blus that come from amazon.co.uk than US Amazon?

Hi folks. I know there are some format differences sometimes and the whole region thing but I'm not sure how either of those things work and if I can buy blus from the amazon uk site and have them work okay here on my PS3. Just need some info on how this works and what to look out for. Thanks.

You're best bet is to tell us what you are interested in getting. Then we can tell you as to whether it is Region Free or not and if it can play on your player.

It depends on what you want to buy. What titles are you interested in ordering?

I thought there was an entry here on blu-ray.com's FAQ about region coding but I can't seem to find it. Here is wikipedia's breakdown on region codes with a global map of territories. If you're in the US, your PS3 can play Region A (and region-free) titles; the UK is in Region B. Depending on the studio and the release, BDs released outside of Region A may or may not play on a Region A player; some titles are released with language leading one to believe they are region-specific when they are *not*, in fact, so coded. BD's listed on blu-ray.com's database will specify whether or not the release is region-coded. There are also other sites which list BDs and their region codes; bluray.liesinc.net/ is one.

Use this page to see if a title is region free. It also lists some of the titles that are region free but have 50Hz content, which is the other thing that can cause a disc to be unplayable in the US.

Not all can play on American Blu-ray players just like not all American Blu-rays can play on European Blu-ray players. There's always websites that mention if the movie is region free or not. The ones you would need to look for are just the region free Blu-rays.

Well unless the film is a british film, there is absolutely no difference in 'accent' whatsoever.

I'm interested in buying the BOURNE set from the UK as a lot of people have but I stopped at the checkout because it was saying region B and may not play the US--

obviously people have ordered it -- is there just the 1 version from the UK
and does it definately play okay in the US??

I had trouble playing some special features on the UK import of Escape from New York I purchased.

The movie itself played fine, but the trailers and deleted opening scene would not play

That's because those aren't in HD. Only the HD material will work. If they were HD that's a whole different story.

This is correct, the height is the same but the cases are a bit thicker, like a dvd case. Of course, if you get a box set like Bourne or Band of Brothers cheap it won't matter since it's in a box anyway.

I believe they're about the same size thickness as like PS3 cases
