I started getting Blu-rays to upgrade my DVDs for the same movie and I was wondering what you do with the DVDs?
I would like to get some money back but not sure what the best options other than eBaying are. |

don't know where you are located, but here (Canada) HMV has an other sale with 5$ off of many BD titles/sets for each DVD (with box) you bring

I sell my DVD's to a local store called "Pre-Played". They pay quite a bit for most titles, especially if they do not have any of those currently. I get on average $3-5 a piece for DVDs that they do not have or are short on, and about $1-3 on run of the mill everyone owns type of DVDs.
Helps fund double dips and change over to BD. |

I checked ebay yesterday just because I was having same thoughts. It appears most of the big lots are getting around $1-$3 dollars per movie. I have gotten selective in my Blu-Ray buying. But the people on here are right if you cannot buy the first week just wait because the price will jump. UP has gone up $5 dollars in the last couple weeks since I purchased it. I love this site, bad thing for work though.

Two suggestions (which I think are pretty good
![]() 1) See if any of your DVDs you want to get rid of go for anything on Amazon (on the DVD page listing, on the right side Amazon will say "you can get $__ for trading this in). You simply send all the DVDs you want in to Amazon (they cover shipping) and you receive a Gift Card debited to your account for whatever the total trade in value is. 2) Secondspin.com....I just sent in a bunch of DVDs to them (they currently have a 10% more promo going on i.e. they will give you an additional 10% of whatever your trade in value is). They offer trade in's for almost any DVD and will either give you store credit, a check via mail, or money via paypal. Regardless of what option you choose, you get the same amount. They also cover shipping up to a certain amount depending on how many movies you are trading in. Great option for DVD trading in....in my opinion ![]() |

I either resale them or check the reviews on the Blu-Ray transfers before investing.
DVD's aren't selling for very much, but for every 5 DVD's I sell, I can usually invest in 2 Blu's. I've already bought some crappy Blu-Ray transfers (Predator & Die Hard for example) and I've been able to get out of them relatively quickly. I'm keeping whatever DVD's arent on Blu yet or whose quality isnt that much better on Blu-Ray. Unfortunately, its going to be alot like the Cassette Tape to CD revolution where you lose alot of money you invested for the superior new product. |
