So someone goes out and pays $3,000 for a TV and $30-40 per movie.....yet to pay $200 more one time to get a good player is suddenly going to break their bank? It's simple actually....if you can afford a highdef TV then the price difference of Bluray and HD is insignficant right now. When TV's start dropping in price considerably, that's when it'll be more important to have that key $100-$150 players. At least that's the way I see it. |

I am not concerned about Profiles and interactivity. I want the highest quality Audio and Video I can get and a player that can take advantage of it. |

I don't think HD-DUD will win this week due to the BOGO sales on Blu-Ray. I bought eight BD's myself and I never do that. That means I negated eight Transformer buys myself. Multiply that and think about it. That 190K (if it's even real) for Transformers could easily be surpassed by the BOGO.
Looking forward to seeing the Friday Nielsen numbers. |

You clearly don't know everything about what happened (very few people do) so I would refrain from talking about this subject until you do know about what really happened. |

All Spider-man Trilogy copies at my local store were sold within 30 mins. Remember, Spider-man is out in Australia and Europe already, so it should just knock Transformers off 1st place.

The Playstation sure did get smashed by the Nintendo 64 didn't it?
The Playstation 2 was dominated by BOTH Gamecube and Xbox. It's a wonder that the PS3 even existed with such a horrible track record. Note for the sarcasm impaired: This was sarcasm. |

I don't think it's so bizarre. People I know are getting HDTVs to watch HD programming on cable/satellite. What they wanted most was to see (primarily) sports in HD. They took a big hit in the wallet and now they're taking some breathing time (mostly emotionally/psychologically) before they're ready to move into a high-def player (and spending 400+ more dollars). Some also fear of investing into the wrong format (they are truly uncommitted to either format). They don't care which format wins, they just want to make sure they've invested in the winning one (I'm obviously not persuasive enough to sway them to Blu when that requires an additional investment of at least $400 for just the player, let alone $34 discs). Early adopters are unique. The vast majority of people see this "war" as confusing and something to avoid (if they even know it's going on at all). For me, it's the cost of BDs holding me back from purchasing more movies. I very rarely spend full price on BDs ... they're just too expensive for me. I wait for the BOGOs and one-off sales. But there have been enough of those to allow me to buy a fair amount of BDs (waiting for my Amazon BOGOs to show up in the mail). |
