My local store shifted recently too.

It's one of the "small boutique" stores, but pretty much, Blu took half of HD-DVD's section.

There are 564,456,789,147 threads regarding shelf space at retail stores. It could be posted in one of them.

Shelf space threads need to be treated with the same distain as black bar threads (I am guilty of creating one). But why do we need constant updates about shelf space.

Nice,

I really think this type of displays is going to register with anyone thinking about buying a High Definition player.

Either they have done the research which all points to Blu Ray winning or they might take a look at available movies which again points to the Blu Victory.

Again, this is another case of someone using the generic "HD DVD" language to mean "HiDef DVD"...in other words Blu-ray and/or HD-DVD.

This is unfortunately where "Blu-ray" gets lost in the semantics of HiDef terminology.

The 1080i/1080p argument that Blu-ray supporters always bring up is utter nonesense.

If you own a 720p television, you would configure the player to output at 720p. If you own a 1080p television, you would configure the player to output 1080i and the TELEVISION WILL DE-INTERLACE IT. There is no difference at that point - you are still watching your movie at 1080p, with full 1080 lines of resolution.

Why do we keep getting these threads. I don't care what your Best Buy looks like. I don't need a shelf space update for every retail location in the US and Canada.

You think? I would hope a guy that works in the Hi Def department would know the difference. After reading the Hi-Def 101 I am getting feeling that Amazon is swing to HD-DVD. I hope I am wrong.

How do you figure that? That is a forum with random customers chiming in on the format war. Those are not members of the Amazon "High-Def Team," and none of those opinions advocates HD-DVD for that matter. Most of them say they're confused about the war, mad about it, or they're just going to wait. One person even says they went Blu and are happy about it. You shouldn't start threads unless you read what you're posting about carefully. Amazon.com has shown unbiased support for both formats, which is fine with me at this point (they probably don't have much choice as they are arguably one of the largest entertainment retailers in the world). However, they are one of the best (and cheapest) sources for Blu-ray both in content and information, and they should be supported as such.

Deal with it! Do you honestly think your complaining about threads such as this one will stop anyone from creating another thread with pics of shelf space?? If it irks you so much, take it up with a mod. Otherwise, put a cork in it.

Their posting isn't pro-HD DVD, it's pro hi-def. I read through all the posts, and they're all pretty much pro-Blu. Of course, the DUD supporters probably haven't found the thread yet...

I just get tired of shelf space threads. They are like LoTR threads only with pictures.

Ok you're new here...

All a mod has to do is consolidate all of the shelf space threads into on giant thread. I would be more than happy if that happened.

OK so the post wasn't from the Hi-Def Team, are we sure about that? I will be honest in saying I don't know, but the poster says "My advice is to go out and purchase a HD DVD player if you can-you will spend a little more than a solid upconverting player but you won't be able to rid yourself of that silly grin when you start watching HD films. -Tim"

Just for the record I have 116 BD's. All of them are from Amazon.

I read it. Thought all of you did a good job of posting facts. You would think that they could not argue with facts, guess I was wrong. IN HD DVD world, the world realy is flat.
