Default Shows that were cancelled and had MASSIVE cliffhangers

I was talking with a friend recently about Carnivale and how it ended and we were both so frustrated that it didn't get a natural conclusion.

And I thought about it and figured at least we got SOME closure and while we could see they were going to go farther, at least it had some semblance of an ending.

I think the absolute worst cases of a show ending on a cliffhanger and never finiishing the story has to be either John Doe or Now & Again.

In fact, I'd be hard pressed to pick between them because Now & Again definitely had a kick to the balls ending, thanks to the writer of the show being mad at the execs, and wrote a massive cliffhanger hoping to pressure them into a second season.

Didn't work. lol

And of course that last shot of John Doe was just like "WHOA!"

So those would be my two two.

I was tempted to put Nowhere Man on here, but that had an ending, just an effed up ending.

I had a similar reaction to Dead Like Me as well. I know they made the movie but still its nothing like the show.

My "OH WTF!" finale definitely belongs to The Sopranos. I was also very pissed with the ending of Deadwood. Seems to be an HBO thing lol. Definitely Freaks and Geeks, cause I was so in love with that show and it's characters and storylines and the way it ended just left some really big questions. At the time, it seemed like Las Vegas had a horrible ending, but than I realized the show sucked anyways and I didn't care to know the outcome of the bloody wedding. But that's all I can think of off the top of my head for now.

I'm referring to a show ending on a cliffhanger such as Now and Again, which has to be the biggest that I can think of off the top of my head, where (for those who have seen the show, this will make sense),
[Show spoiler]Eric Close's character finally decided to bolt and knocked out his handler (Haysbert) and went to make off with his family, and the show ends with Haysbert and the rest of his government team kicking in their door, swat swarming through the house, and Haysbert says very angrily, "FIND THEM!"

And that's the end. I was like and then after realizing that was all there was going to be.

Ok does this count?

Angel - Final episode: Angel, Spike, Gunn, and Illyria are the last team members to take on the Circle of the Black Thorn. The Senior Partners sends an army to destroy them, and the audience is left unclear whether the characters will survive.

Angel, honestly. Yes it ended but it was such a bad ending to a show that was just starting to hit its stride.

lol

I dunno I was just trying to find other's opinions of shows that ended without a resolution. Not necessarily shows that you just didn't like the ending (such as Sopranos).

But ones who ended on a CLIFFHANGER, that they would have finished in the next season.

Ones in which perhaps we don't know the fate of a main character, or something along those lines.

If Jericho had not been brought back after season 1 that would have taken the cake as the the most infuriating cliffhanger ending of all time. lol

Freaks and Geeks definitely qualifies then.

And in a way, Battlestar Galactica does as well. The story ended, but pretty much every question about Starbuck was left wide open. But BG wasn't "Cancelled" either, so i guess it doesn't qualify.

When I was a teenager I was obsessed with Models Inc. Every Wed night I would rush to see it. Then, I was going crazy when the season ended and I didn't know who got shot (the sniper was Mitch Pileggi a.k.a. X-Files' Skinner!) at the wedding. And then Fox didn't have the decency to tell us devoted fans how it ended. Damn FOX!

Journeyman is definitely up there.

TNT's series "Saved" is a helluva candidate there. OMG @ that last scene with [spoiler]the ambulance crashed and Tom Everett Scott holding his friend's body as he's just looking around like "what the eff just happened"?[.spoiler]

Oh I was so mad at that.

The ending to "Wanted" on TNT as well (not related to the movie) had a kind of a cliffhanger.

Thief SORTA did, but pretty much wrapped up on FX.

When I saw the ending to Leverage the other day I was quickly searching the internets going "pleaselettherebeaseason3" lol

When Fox killed the series, leaving an unresolved cliffhanger, a new ending was shot and aired only in Europe and on the E! Entertainment cable channel. Aaron Spelling was the executive producer.

I really think Christian Kane is far too talented for Leverage. He is a perfect storm of beast and charisma and should be doing better stuff. I really like his music too, country and rockabilly is just my favorite. I actually laughed at the finale for Leverage, but why where you searching for info on season 3? Immediately following the finale scene it said "Leverage is back in production with a new season to air this summer" anyways, I like most the cast, but Hutton is really blah.
