Default Amazon Sales question

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew how amazon sales rankings actually work?
Is it like a wtd? last 24 hours? last 1 hour?

2001 blu was ahead by far early today and yesterday, but now it is behind. So in total sales could blu be ahead? Thanks,

It's behind because Amazon has not shipped/or ran out of copies for 2001 and they have copies for hd-dvd only right now. They are behind on all the warner blu's for this week. They even have problems with the other warner titles for HD-DVD also, but they are shipping 2001 only for hd. I hope they get stock soon! Many people picked some of this weeks Warner titles at BB & CC etc. Amazon WTF!

BTW, does amazon ship before the street date so that the title will arrive at your doorstep by street date?

Based on watching it for a while I would say it is a weighted formula with sales that happened 48 hours ago still counting, but not for much. A title which becomes unorderable will tend to drop pretty quickly over the next day or two, but doesn't instantly drop to the bottom. In the past I figured that getting a ranking in the top 10,000 or so only required selling maybe 2 to 3 copies a day.

Amazon usually ships either the day before release or the day of release. But, if you don't have Amazon Prime, it can take up to a day or two longer to ship. That always happened to me before I became a Prime member. I would even pre-order as soon as it was available and still they delayed the shipping. For some people who are Prime members, even though they choose the free two day shipping, get theirs on release day. I always get mine through free two day shipping and it comes either the day after release or the next day. When I was not a Prime memeber sometimes it would show up the next week, or if I was lucky, the Saturday after release.
